PS:T is the greatest CRPG ever made. It's loads of fun, and is very hard to describe without using words like "blown away" and "simply amazing."
If anyone disagrees, then let me be the first to tell you, "You're wrong." :P This bears repeating. PS:T is great.

Thanks for your input, spick and Storm. I'm one of those players who actually enjoys reading a lot of text so for me, the more, the merrier. I suppose I'm partial to text-based games because I'm a huge fan of Interactive Fiction. Don't get me wrong, I also enjoy point and click aspects of CRPGs, but I think I'm going to like Torment because it contains a bit of both elements. And the music is great! I think even with all our praise for PS:T, we forgot about that. The music is incredible. While you read dialogue, the music makes you *feel* the dialogue. I didn't get very far in the game last night (I'm still stuck in the mortuary) but that's typical for me when I start playing a new game. If I could find the game manual, I'd be in good shape. Been looking for it, but haven't found it yet. It will turn up. I save everything. The mortuary is good to stay in for a while; you get the feel for the game, and it explains a lot of basic elements. The manual, by the way, is next to worthless

BTW, when I played it last time, long ago on a slower machine, I had a huge technical problem with the game, could never get rid of it.
After beginning of the combat, the game started to slowdown, HDD started to swap, slowdown time increased with each turn, with each swing even. This happened only during combat, the only way to pass this was either to exit the area (hehe, this needed a lot of patience) or restart the computer.
I tried lots of things to fix this. And now I am wondering is this happends again. Have any of you experienced anything like that?

My "virtual memmory " played up once or twice ,but that was about it, i should think the patches you have installed this time around will have sorted out that problem.

Actually, that was a well-known bug. It was called the slow-down bug (though with me it never happened in combat) and it was supposedly fixed by the patch. Looks like some little bugs do slip by...

Well, I downloaded and installed the patch but the game still slows down on my computer as well. Luckily, patience has become one of my better known qualities (Yeah, right!! ). I will admit though, I think Torment is one terrific game. It's certainly unique and while I'm not that far into the game, I think it's going to become one of my favorites in terms of CRPGs. At least it will be up there with and Morrowind. Faralas

I think I have installed all patches available that time I played it. The best place to see this was, underSigil (fighting those giant worms), battle with Ravel or when Mortality slains TNO's comrades.

Yeah, right, at the time I played PST I had different PC, now we can say it is old and weak comparing to my 2.6GHz+Radeon 9700pro But, I can swear the problem was in the game, not in my PC spec. Ok, can't wait as always, as soon as I get to larger battles I will let you know is it ok or not.

I have an Athlon 2200+ now, but I used to play PS:T on a PII 400. It went, but sometimes I heard my PC saying to itself "I can do it! I can do it! I can do it!" so I take it it had some trouble

Faralas, i assume you're out of the Mortuary now , yes? Yes! I thought the mortuary was fun and set the stage for what kind of play to expect throughout the rest of the game. I've got Dak'kon (or however you spell it) in my party now and I'm still looking for Pharod. I've completed a lot of little quests here and there. (Can't think of any at the moment - my brain's kinda fuzzy - not enough caffiene!) Torment's theme is extremely dark which is a welcomed change, but the game 'sticks' a lot which really slows down the play (and is starting to wear on my nerves). I have a Dimension 2.52 GHz, 512 MB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 420 and since I got this game when I had my old PC (which was a Pentium II that I upgraded to 128 MB RAM), I thought for sure there would be no problems running Torment on the new PC. I have had some problems running the older games on XP, but I set the compatibility for Win98 and everything seems to run fine (except in the case of Torment, which played worse when I changed Win compatibility to 98). I'm not giving up on the game because I like the storyline. In a small way, it reminds me of Jack Vance's Dying Earth Tales, which was an excellent fantasy series (books). I have run into some problems with PST. After you enter the Hive from Mortuary everything looks fine. If you go NE to the next map I have buggy black screen with occasional sprites, Only NPCs and visible. What the hell, I go north and enter another map - Ragpicker's Square (sqare with that witch, who will train you the ways of wizard). This map works just fine.
Pls. advise. When I played it long ago I had no such problem.
Another question. Where can I find berries for that witch lady quest? (I dont remember). And am I right, Annah will join me only after I meet with Pharod?
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, yes, spice merchant has mentioned gardener. I will look for him.
About the map problem. Yes, I am all patched. Maybe WinXP pro is the problem?
