I dont think the Lady of Pain CAN be killed. The game hints on many occasions that she is beyond such things.

IMO Lady was more a myth, a legend everyone feared and respected. They say she was the ruler and protector of Sigil. She kept the doors closed. I think nothing really happend with her so, she is still there protecting Sigil.

There is a way to, ah, get to know the lady. Start a mass murder or taunt the Lady's Doll a few times. She'll "show up"

Or even better: become a disciple of Aoskar

Ohh, Faralas, this game is a torment in terms of running it.

Yesterday I had the whole specter of problems you could only imagine.
My problems started when I suddenly recalled that I have forgot decanter of endless water, which lies somewhere in Drowned Nations. So, cd-3 again.

And again it didn't start, after many attempts reloads and restarts cd-2 also stopped responding correctly, which caused windows crash several times, where my PC starting to boot from cd-rom and completely forgot about presence of HDD drives. Loading and loading I have got different errors from dll error to failed to initialise torment.exe.
At the end of my experiments, the game crashed every time I tried to run it from cd 2 - at the beginning of black isle logo.

So, I almost threw my PC in the window.

...

Egin, you are learning the virtuous art of patience. I have wanted to throw my PCs out the window many times. Thankfully, I always managed to get them up and running again.

I'm still in the beginning parts of the game and haven't found Pharod yet so I cannot answer any of your questions. I haven't read passed your message in here and I will assume that the more experienced members have given you a foot up.

Thank Gods for the weekends! I can play for as long as I want.

Glad you got the game running again. Enjoy!

@ Spick: The incredible Fallout series and Baldur's Gate series were by Black Isle, and also Neverwinter Nights I think.

@Egin: yes, the Lady is real. Try taunting the doll or committing mass murder.

Well, from what I hear, NWN's story sucked like a vaccuum cleaner, but the game itself was pretty decent. But I've never played it myself.

I am actually thinking about starting NWN in some nearest future.
This game was discussed here many times.

So, what I see from these discussions is that NWN story really sucked, but the game itself is done very well. And there are two expansions, where plot is quite good.
If any NWN gamer could suggest, whether to start from NWN or just skip it and go for expansions only. This is what I think about

Ohh, dear Faralas it's not.

Yesterday I went through the tenement of Thugs, through the Valley, helped Valley divide and went to the new area - I think it should be Lower Ward.
I thought that cd 3 is in dead nations only, I was mistaken. Again, the same problem. I probably take a small break from it and maybe try to clone that third cd on a virtual drive. This is the last and only solution I can think off now.

I am glad you have time and you can really enjoy this game bug/problem free.

Egin, I agree with Spick. I am so sorry you're having troubles with the game. Last night I finally cleared out the Trash Warrens (still haven't found Pharod), killed Bish (don't know if that will ruin anything) and made my way down to the Buried Village. Can't wait to finish up my work today so I can get back to playing.

I wonder if there is a way to contact any of the people who developed the game? Have you done an internet search to see if anyone else has run into this same problem? That's the only thing I can think of to help you (other than Spick's generous offer). That and if you really run into a bind, maybe someone on E-bay is selling their old games. That's always another option, and worth checking out.

And last, but not least, if you can wait, I can send you my game when I'm done with it.

Good luck!

[color:"orange"] LOL! Bish is the head Thug in the Trash Warrens waaaaay in the back just before you go down the stairs to the Buried Village. Btw, I also killed Sharegrave. I have a ton of saved games so if that's a problem, I can go back and reload that part. I end up doing that quite often because sometimes I forget to save before I have a discussion with a character.

And on another note, I ended up (unwittingly, mind you) killing everyone in the Alley of Dangerous Angles - Krystal included. Oops! I don't know if that's going to present a problem in the future so I guess I'll find out. BUT! I did get my journal. And I met the Lady. The maze wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be. (Thank Gods!) At least it was visual. I am used to playing the old text games where there are no graphics. Getting stuck in one of those mazes can be a bear!

Soooooooooo, now it's off to find Pharod and finish a bunch of quests I still haven't completed. (Like the Mausoleum - I should have done that earlier. *sigh* Oh well, cest la vie. (pardon my spelling!)

i think Bish would have given you a minor Quest and i believe you got a good weapon off him after killing him?
You could have done several "Chores" for krystal and earned some good XP.
I killed Sharegrave also, no problems there that i can remember.
If you've left the Mausoleum this late it should be a doddle.

I can't find appropriate words to express my feelings towards you guys. Thank you Faralas, thank you Spick. You are the best!

I have been reading various technical assistance sections and forums. They say, it may help to copy the contents of all four cd-s onto HDD. wow, that's a lot of space. I will try this. If this will not help then I will search for the game here.

If all my attempts fail then I will probably ask for your help guys. Thanks again.

Faralas. I seem you are playing as the bad guy?

Not really. The only consequences are alignment shifts: Rotten William represents Evil, Krystal represents Good, and Blackrose (did you find him?) represents Neutrality.

ROFL, Stormrider! That was a great response. I'm still chuckling over it. Seems things like that (when the are easy the first time around) always turn out to be a bear the second, third and one-hundred and twentieth time around!

I checked my alignment and I'm still (can't believe it) a true neutral. I don't really pick fights unless provoked. Then again, I guess just saying "Greetings" to a Thug is grounds for an attack. *wicked grin*

This game is sooooooo great. I just spent my entire day (for the last 8 hours) writing and programming. It's time for some computer fun so that means PS:T time!

***************************** MINOR SPOILER ***************************

[color:"orange"] Yep, I got a great weapon, but shortly after that I cleared out the mausoleum (you're right - it was a doddle), went and had a chat with Mebbeth and became a mage. Ergo, I couldn't use the good blade left by Bish. And, I'm too greedy to save it for another fighting character, so I sold it.

And finally, I found Pharod and received his quest. Now, I feel like I'm getting into the 'heart' of the game. Great stuff! Thanks for all your input!
