I can't get Daggerfall to even work right on windows 98!!

Well to be more exact it boots up, and it's win 98 se, but I can't strafe, and I can't walk backwards!! So it's head down and doomed to walk forwards!!
There's a hint of movement when I try to walk back or sidestep but it's like the character get's stuck on nothing!!
The game is also bugged to hell anyway!
