Did you right clicked on the scorpions in the trap menu to select them, and if so did the skill icon remain Lockpick?
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but .. don't you left click on the trap menu to select Scorpion/SpiderEgg/Bomb ??
Yes, first I leftclicked on scorpions that appeared above the belt menu, then I rightclicked. Skill icon remained lockpick.
And of course I had scorpion traps in my inventory.
