As you might have noticed we have a new ranking system. We liked the old one. And since the new one is default only and not Divinity- or Fantasyrelated at all we want YOU to come up with some suggestions. In the old days we had the ways of might and magic. I don't know if this is still possible without hacking the code (like we did before) so maybe it should be something which fits both or just in general. Do we need a ranking? Do we need classes? I say let us fight this and just use proletarian as ranking name!!! (and maybe "bourgeoisie" for the Larians)

why not use th eold rankings , but in th emiddle , have a few more titles?

Why should ranking be necessary at all <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />? What does is actually say besides of how many times someone has posted? Quality = quantity? I'd prefer none, just my opinion on this matter.

I agree with Kiya, and since it even lists how many posts you made right under the pic it is even less usefull but for creating a post fest to get rank. I'd say have "Member" for us normal people, "Larian *" for larian people and such. When I ran a UBB I got sick of the lets post 100 useless crap posts so I can become the top rank (though I never got rid of the titles).

This is correct but you shouldn't forget that useless posting is an inevitable thing - no matter if it is done for getting a new rank, just increasing the posts number or just because one confuses the board with a chatting device. An example is a board where you can specify your "rank" - but does that stop useless single liner posts? No, it doesn't.
I have to admit that it was pretty cool to be a Divinity in the old board - a ranking I got without too much useless posting btw, like the other Divinities as well.
It was not cool because we had posted that much but rather because it showed that we have been there since the very beginning.

Nevertheless, I wouldn't mind if there was no ranking at all. I don't know, maybe it is possible to let the people specify their own description without hacking the forum software...

it doesn't do good, youre right, but in a funny way, i like the titels.

but i think individuals must have titles.

like helper, for ppl like dragon and kiya etc.

Good Idea I did similiar for my board, but I had to edit UBB's code though. I let all fan-sites that were part of our forum have whatever title they wanted (though only an admin was allowed to change it.) Also all of the developers of the game.

I like the last ones of the current "default" Ranking System. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Apart from that: I find the "helper", "developer" "graphic artist" "entitling" a quite good idea.

Ok, then I wish for "unranked anarchist" in my case.
