I'm rather annoyed. Even thought the Merchant's Guild Quest involving Tingalf was supposed to be fixed in version 1.33, It's still busted even after the game's been out a year. What's RR going to be like if they can't figure out how to fix bugs in Divinity? It's really frustrating to know you've completed a quest, but you can't get a reward or complete the quest because the programmers of the game are too busy making another game to bother fixing something you've already paid for. It's really utterly disgusting to see so many pc games come out anymore that are buggy and nobody wants to fix their mistakes. It makes me wonder sometimes if there isn't legal action to be taken where a product is created poorly and things that were said to be fixed weren't. Divine Divinity is a great game world with alot of stuff more games should have, but Larian needs to hire more competent coders who'll do their job and make sure the game runs properly before people go out and shell out 50 bucks believing that if the game isn't perfected yet it should be. I hope you guys at Larian are listening and get off your Belgian butts and do your duty to your customers and fix the remaining bugs instead of looking to making your next buck by producing a new bug filled game.

Before you accuse Larians of beeing unaware of bugs and player problems please take a look at the Larian Homepage. Version 1.33 isn´t up to date since many month. With the latest patch (converts to Version 1.34) you won´t have (almost) any bugs at all in the game. Please download the patch from here.

Does that one quest make any practical difference in the game, or interfere with the completion of the game? I understand how bugs or broken quests can be frustrating, though. Ideally all bugs and glitches within the control of the developers should be fixed, but then that aplies to the whole software industry. For games, the publisher decides when something is released and may be responsible for support and some of the quality assurance, which they may or may not provide. Larian has already stated that they would like to clean up the remaining problems with Divinity. Maybe they will have the time and resources to do so after they make their 'next buck' when the 'new bug filled game' is released. Since you asked so nice, that is.
Programmers and software testers tend to do their best work sitting, so getting off their 'Belgian butts' would be counter productive.
If you absolutely have to have a bug free game that can not crash or have problems with the system drivers or OS, get an X-Box or PS2.

Me dropping through for the moment, read this post!!!
A. New patch is out. 1.34 B. They have wanted to make a new patch but 1. CDV won't let them make an official one 2. they are busy with RRR making it NOT WITH BUGS C. THEY ARE DOING GREAT, SO SHUT UP! D. Belgian Butts? You try making a game on your feet! Its not so easy! E. Just another buck? You make a game, see how hard it is, then see how fun it is, then have people steal it from you! *mummble, Johnson, unmummble* And its their job, to make KICKASS GAMES.
So I need to run now, bye! I shall return. Maybe. Sometime. I think. Not.
-But, er, Larian, if you could fix one or two last things on a new patch

A. New patch is out. 1.34 at what point did I suggest that 1.33 was the final patch, I said it was supposed to have been fixed in version 1.33 but obviously wasn't.
B. They have wanted to make a new patch but 1. CDV won't let them make an official one oh yeah, they won't let them make an official one, that makes sense, potentially increasing sales for a re-release is so stupid
2. they are busy with RRR making it NOT WITH BUGS you really think that? suuure... you're obviously naive, who wants to buy a new game from a developer that can't perfect their games? Doesn't exactly breed customer loyalty.
C. THEY ARE DOING GREAT, SO SHUT UP! brown nosing
D. Belgian Butts? You try making a game on your feet! Its not so easy! yes very intelligent comeback...
E. Just another buck? You make a game, see how hard it is, then see how fun it is, then have people steal it from you! *mummble, Johnson, unmummble*
And I paid the full 50 bucks when the game was still relatively new so tell me the justification for the anti-piracy issue in my case? All the bugs actually worsen the anti-piracy case because who wants to buy a buggy game? And the people who actually are paying money are getting ripped off due to poor service.
I'm hoping I can go back to a previous save file and try to finish the quest because I really don't enjoy having quests that I can't finish due to a bug...
And its their job, to make KICKASS GAMES. Uhh yeah the game kicks [nocando], but bugs don't... they frustrate annoy and show that their quality control department needs to step up and show they can fix their mistakes.
-But, er, Larian, if you could fix one or two last things on a new patch
Yeah exactly. Make a patch, make the game complete, re-release it so more people can enjoy it in de-bugged glory, if you don't think people will buy it, then put it in with RR as a pre-order package... But just FIX IT...
It's really annoying to know that if I want to complete the quest I've gotta give up some really nice items I've found... *mutter* Anyone remember if Trevor gives out any quests after the Tingalf quest?

D. Belgian Butts? You try making a game on your feet! Its not so easy! yes very intelligent comeback... ---- thank you very very much. I took a lot of time thinking that up . they are busy with RRR making it NOT WITH BUGS you really think that? suuure... you're obviously naive, who wants to buy a new game from a developer that can't perfect their games? Doesn't exactly breed customer loyalty. well, yeah, go to agree with you there. I am a bit. oh yeah, they won't let them make an official one, that makes sense, potentially increasing sales for a re-release is so stupid eh what? And I paid the full 50 bucks when the game was still relatively new so tell me the justification for the anti-piracy issue in my case? never said in yourcase. at what point did I suggest that 1.33 was the final patch, I said it was supposed to have been fixed in version 1.33 but obviously wasn't. at what point did I suggest you didn't know that. I just commented it. C. hellchyldx certainly you have every right to be distressed over not being allowed to complete all quests. i suffered the same problem with this particular quest, as well as not being able to complete the 'who murdered george'. seems i'd already sent mardaneus along to the council before finishing it and bringing him (mardaneus) the news, and it's too late if he's already in council. this was frustrating too. thankfully, neither of these really mattered in the overall completion, and in truth, i actually DID complete the quests, they just never turned 'green'. just as raze said, this is rather inconsequential in the scope of things. it's just NOT inconsequential to you. and that is understandable - especially when you're not sure if this will keep you from getting something else important later on. you bring up very valid (if loud) critisisms, things i have no doubt they'll take into account with the new game(s). i hope you enjoy the rest of divine divinity. there's a lot of fun yet to come! and actually, you sound a bit like me - i don't think there are but a couple specks of black (fog of war) left on any map, and i seriously doubt there's a single living bad guy! [would this qualify as an*l?] i too like 'completion'. so i understand.

"i too like 'completion'. so i understand." lego
ditto. i hope larian can address hellchyldx regarding his issues with the game & see if satisfaction can be met for both sides. larians, if u seriously think there will be a sort-of-final patch for DD planned out(maybe after RRR is out), please let us know. if there won't be any, please let us know as well so we won't wonder & pleading in futility for one.
larian is relatively new, so every potential customer counts.
hellchyldx, be patient & request for assistance. for others who may take hellchyldx's post wrongly, please be patient with him & help if u can. if u couldn't care less, don't bother posting.

As far as being patient... the game's a little more than a year old... they should have had it all fixed a while ago...
I just did a quick run through up to the point of getting the quest completed, but it's utterly annoying to have to figure out a way around a bug instead of the quest being completed without a specific order to avoid the bug... what really annoys me is that I'll lose some really nice items... *mutters some more* anyone know if there's a way to move items from a newer save to an older one? If I can figure out how to do that it would kick butt, that way I could just do the quests over and still keep some of the nice things I've found...

You can swap items without random properties between games, but there are problems with weapons and armour. See the procedure and warnings in; Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory filesYou may be able to write down the stats of the items, and re-create them in the other save with DAD's item editor.

I agree that perhaps Larians could make one more patch in order be perfect and smoothly runs to our pcs without problems. But I can not understand bad maners. Can not understand this at all. «Belgian butts and do your duty» ?? In case you haven´t noticed yet, this forum is one of the most civilized. People are nice to each other here. And polite. I don´t have to bare with your bad maners so please watch your language. You can always say something you want, in a polite and friendly way. After all Larians welcome suggestions and notes from all of us. Keep in mind next time please.
