To all who came quite far in Dungeon Siege.
Can you answer me a few questions?
1) I guess I missed a quest in act 3 as I´m in act 4 at the moment. Should have supported soldiers somewhere, but never found the town (castle?). Is this quest necessary?
At the moment I am in search of a magical staff. Got the quest from a mage who was frozen in an ice block. If I would go back to "Glacier valley" I would walk for an eternity.
2) Some of you said that the balancing would be extremely off. I couldn´t support this point of view until now. I can´t say wether battle or natural spells are better. What do you think? and why?
3) When i come to a trader I seldom find an item that my characters can use. (all too good for my charcters.) Did you have the same experiance?
4) How would you build your character group? (hand to hand, magical, or completely mixed?)
Thanx in advance

hey bernhard! u should check out http://www.gamefaqs.com for walkthru of the game. as for battle magic vs natural magic, both are very powerful if developed well although in my experience, battle magic is much better in the beginning. natural sucks when u start out with it but it gets better later on. i suggest u recruit a guy later(somewhere in the swamps) who specialises in natural magic. about your 3rd question, yes, it's true that traders usually sell stuff that's a few levels up from your current character levels. if u anticipate the uses of these stuff, especially spells, then u should just buy them. about party setup, i usually go for 2-3 melee, 1 archer, 2 mages(1 battle, 1 natural) & a mule. most of these u can recruit during the campaign. except for the mule, of course.

[color:"orange"]About nature and battle magic : I am a battlemage at the game I am playing at the moment. And I find that battle magic is really powerful. But I have in my team that mage you have rescued from crystal caves, Merik. He is specialist in nature magic. Not very powerful but good enough at the point you are at the moment. Buy a good healling natute spell for that mage. He will heal all the team members during the battle. I find this very useful because healing portions sometimes run off and you have to walk so much in order to buy some more. Make sure that he has enough healling portions in his inventory so he can stay alive during the hard battles. Generally in this game I find battle magic very nice. If you want though you could develop equally battle and nature magic for your char. It would be an interesting combination. My style of playing don´t follow that path though. I prefer to be specialist in one thing and try to reach perfection.
[color:"orange"] Buy tip1 : Very often you go to buy some things and you see that there are plenty of them that your team can not use. Make smart buys. Buy things that are better even if your team can´t wear them. Pretty soon you will be able to use them. Keep them stashed in your pack mule. So when your char. will be ready to use them then you don´t have to run back to the shops for better stuf. There are also some pretty good staff you can collect from killing monsters. Beware though. The brown items have powers but they usually take power too from you. For eg. you have some brown boots that add to strength but they cut off dexterity.
[color:"orange"] Buy tip2 : Buy spell books for every member of your team even if they are not mages. Gather the spells you find from battles and they are doubles or you don´t need in those spell books. Then go and sell them. You will earn much money.
[color:"orange"] About the quest : It is not broken. You don´t have to go back. Continue your way and you will complete it. Do you want a spoiler?

well u can see my view of them in my earlier post to bernhard.
battle magic gives better result early in the game as most spells have relatively low mana consumption. plus, their damage-to-mana ratio is better than nature magic, especially obvious in the early parts of the game. another advantage is that it has a lot of destructive area effect spells.
nature is relatively weak when u start developing it. but it gets better & better as u progress & it has quite a few(IIRC) very powerful spells that u unleash on a single enemy. this is perfect for bosses. plus, it has healing spells which a few are area effect. this is great for party.
in this game, it's best to have each character specialised as the reward will be more obvious. each will be the best in his/her field. u don't want a bunch of half-baked disappointments. unless u want to go solo.

I personally don't really like the game, at last not the singleplayer, it has some awesome graphics, and a very good engine (no loading times while playing!)But when i started a multiplayer game, it is a completely different map. I like to start the game, but after a few hours, i'm bored of the game, so it gets uninstalled rather fast on my pc. I also heard there is a secret level in the game, at least in multiplayer part. It involves some animals (hint:it aren't cows, that's in diablo 2 )

Well I think it still is secret because I have heard that it is hell difficult to get there. Don't know though. Never been there.

U also need 3 items to open it, one is the dagger ,or something like it, where the game starts with. Also heard that the chickens are all named after the creators of the game.
K, we have a secret cow level in Diablo 2, a secret chicken level in Dungeon siege, what secret level should we get in riftrunner? secret Pig-level??

It's a stand alone expansion, so don't worry, you can play it without playing trough the whole game. You even don't have to install to originall.

My two cents...it's a fun game to play multiplayer, but single player is a bit boring. Plus, with multiplayer..if you die you can just ghost back and find a ressurection shrine, with single player you have to start from a save point. I enjoyed playing this game with my friends, very fun..but I have yet to finish it single player..I guess I get bored too easy.
The greatest thing you'll ever learn...
Is just to love and be loved in return.
