Yes, a scroundel is better off using ranged weapons. Never, ever, bother with melee weapon proficiency; that's a mistake I made. Lighsabers have a separate proficiency, so the hope of building melee proficiency feats for the lightsabers is out. If you intend to go melee as a Jedi and haven't become one yet, pick either two-weapon fighting line of feats or dueling. (Depending on whether you want to wield a single-bladed lightsaber, dual-wield two single-bladed lightsabers, or wield a double-bladed lightsaber.)

Scout seems to be adept at computer skills and suchlike, using mostly ranged weapon (definitely not a melee class).
