Hello andycarp42 and welcome to the forum

This is a map of the 2nd level of the catacombs to find slasher :

But i think it is bad for you. The biggest orc is not the leader and i don't know if you can end this quest because you killed the orc chief.

Try to go and get slasher, if it does't work, restart the game you are just at the beginning.

the orc is the one that is requesting the axe from you..why do you want to kill him? maybe i misread the post. any way, you find the axe on the next level down. be carfull, its guarded by a pretty big skeleton.

Typically it is much better to simply find the axe and give it to the orcs. The requirements for the weapon are too high for a beginning character, making it useless until better weapons are available anyway. It's far better to get the experience for doing the quest, it can help a lot.

"You do realize you're evil, right?"

"Nah, I'm just in tune with my inner jack-booted Fascist."

You can tell the orc you will keep an eye out for the axe just to simply get past him.

You still don't have to complete the quest once you find the axe, he is an orc after all and you don't owe him anything. I actually had an undead join up with me without the choice of saying no, so I led him back to the orcs. It was taking out the smaller orcs until the big one finished him off. This wasn't taken as a sign of aggresion since I just stood back and watch them fight.

I never went back to try and kill the big orc but since you have me thinking about it, maybe I will just do that.

Uhmmmm, I hope that a simple early quest wouldn't conflict with a major quest later on in the game.

I really don't know myself since this is the first time I am playing Divinity through.

No, that orc is not Kroxy; killing them will only effect the Slasher quest.

Don't worry "slasher" is not a part of a main quest.
You can fail it, you just loose XP points.

You will meet Kroxy, the orc member of the council of seven, later in the game.
I don't say anything else, i don't want to spoil the surprise.

Thanks all and sorry about the undead thing.

I don't want to spoil anything myself but keep an eye open if you're looking for help.

Once you accept the Slasher Quest it doesn't seem that you can kill the Orc.

I finally got around to selling alot of my items and the Slasher was one of them. It still doesn't show the quest as broken and I can't kill the Orcs. They are just standing around, getting hungry and waiting for the Slasher.

It seems I can still purchase the Slasher back from the merchant and complete the quest if I wish, but the experience is so little at this point.

Actually, you can 'give' them Slasher without having it in your inventory (as long as you identified it), and the experience from quests is higher at higher character levels.

Thanks Raze,

I didn't know about the higher experience. I did have the axe on me when I went back to kill the Orcs. Since I couldn't kill them I did the quest and it still didn't seem like alot of experience. Of course I saved before going back and trying this, but I did load up the save and sold the axe anyways.

My experience hardly budged so I went for the gold.
