New Line hat in den USA die DVD-Veröffentlichung der "Special Extended Edition" von "Der Herr der Ringe - Die Rückkehr des Königs" auf DVD angekündigt. Das 4 DVD-Set soll am 14. Dezember in den Handel kommen. Optional gibt es auch wieder eine Sammler-Box, die neben der wesentlich aufwendigeren Verpackung eine "Minas Tirth"-Sammler-Statue von Sideshow Weta sowie noch eine vierte DVD mit der 52 Minuten langen Dokumentaton "Creating The Lord of the Rings Symphony" enthält, die die Entstehung des Music Scores von Howard Shore thematisiert.
