The only thing that I am worried about is not the name but the time that the game will come to Greece. I hate to be in here and everybody finish the game and talk about it and me just wait to take it in my hands. So Larians you can call the game whatever you want but please send it fast in here

Lol They could call it DIVINE FLOODLAND though. After the great amount of water that flooded the offices....
(You know what I mean )

Staples, a name is one of many factors - aside form it there is the marketing, originality, availability of similar products, size of target group, blind luck etc. Yet a name is one of those factors that create the first impression. We say that books shouldn't be judged by their covers but there is a reason for making good covers... Well there is no point in discussing it now.

Mslynx, I can almost bet they'll organize it well (DD lacked that) - contests, official website, file updates, official Polish forum, reviews written by players (You can guess once I get my hands on the game I'm going to write a review), redistribution in cheaper series, etc. But I pray they leave at least English voices or even let people choose between two language versions...
If you are that crazy then here is a link to the CDP's website (Polish and Czech, however they are working on an English version):

Boginka, you were reading my mind! Perhaps you are one of the Powerfully Insane also! I of course could only read what was in english, but the words
jump out in a prominent place! That is all that matters. Thank you very much for the link. Prophets need all the info they can get. Even if they don't understand it! Thanks again!

Staples, a name is one of many factors -

This is true, even now I wish I would have chosen more of a roleplaying name if I knew I was going to post this much.

I guess even Staple or Stapler would have been better in the eyes of others, but I simply chose a name of a store here in the US. Guess I just wanted something that would be accepted on the first try and get confirmation.

Mslynx, no I am not - I try to be neither an enemy nor a fan of something. Be warm or cold, but not hot or frosty...
I can't understand how not understandable info can be of use, but I don't have to understand everything. Too much understanding in that sentence...
I can keep an eye out (unlike You I know both English and Polish ) and when I'll see any larger official or unofficial actions connected with either DD od BD I might PM it to You - if You are interested that is.

Staples, If You just hadn't told it aloud You got the name from a US store it would be for me just as much "roleplaying name" (whatever You mean by that...) as any other. Do You really find names like (no offence meant here, to anyone) Dead Meat, Boginka, Raze, crazycereal etc., much more "roleplaying"? For me there is no real difference in perception between posts of Gadariel Sah'Kor of The Elven House (for example) and Harods, Toys'r Us or Alan15 - it's how you write and what you write not under what name you do it that makes the difference... Just my private opinion there.

Just my stupid question Staples (I ask a whole lot of stupid questions - be aware of that fact ), but why do You feel the urge to be "someone"? Then again it's not my business - be whatever you like - friend of Bilbo, Frodo, Sauron, Midas, Batman or Yogi Bear...

Jurak, if that was by some chance to me, though it didn't have to be, than.. * bows deeply *.

Uhmmmm I don't know, it could be because I joined in on the RPG chat.

But I do like the name Midas! I could specialize in brakes as one of my skills.
Seriously, Midas is a pretty cool nick, Midas the Mage.

Staples, so if you join some other chat you'll get another nick, and yet another, and.. (ad infinitum if You wish)? Doesn't make much sense to me. As for the name - I'm not sure whether it's good idea... You do know who Midas was, right?

You don't? Oh well, I'm quite surprised. Here's the story(the rest of the post is absolutely off topic)
Midas was a mythological king of Phrygia (Greece), I know two stories he is connected with, I'll give them here in short versions - look up the books for details.
1. Midas and Dionysus - Midas had once captured a satyr, those creatures were closely connected with Dionysus the Greek god of wine and not very civilized celebrations. Dionysus offered to grant Midas one wish if the king frees the satyr and Midas agreed. He loved gold beyond measure so he asked the god to give him the ability of changing everything he touched into gold. Soon Midas learned the gift was more a curse than a blessing - the food and liquids changed into solid gold and were uneatable, the king's bed became a block of metal and on top of that Midas once hugged his only daughter thus changing her into a golden statue. Desperate he asked Dionysus to take the gift away.
2. Marsyas and Apollo - there lived a satyr called Marsyas who challenged Apollo (god of music and arts) to a contest in flute playing. Apollo accepted the challenge, judges were chosen, the two contestants played. The judges decided that Apollo is far superior to Marsyas. The god decided to punish Marsyas (the punishment was very cruel so I'll skip it). After dealing with the satyr Apollo was troubled by one more thing - one of the judges voted for Marsyas - it was Midas. Apollo decided to punish him as well, he turned Midas's ears into those of a donkey and the unfortunate king had to live like that forever doing his best to hide his little secret...

Wow, sounds like a great story.

To tell you the truth, I can't even remember the last book I picked up. I rent alot of movies and half the time I don't even watch them. But for some reason now, this sounds familiar. Was there ever a kids version to this story?

I only ask since you mentioned that one part was very cruel and now I am thinking that I might have heard this story back in grade school. Maybe it was just a teacher telling us about the story with the golden touch and donkey ears.

But as you said, if I join another chat I will just get another nick. I'm not sure if others will look into it so deeply.

Yes some other people look into it so deeply.
It is the subject of this topic : a name is it important or not.
When you change your name, something in your past disappears.

@ Boginka
Very interesting off topic. I am sure that LUCRETIA will appreciate it.

We should name the game "LUCRETIA, the Riftrunner".

Or "Morbo, the Riftbrain" ... or "Kiya, the Riftlibrarian" ... or ...

Not for Midas I suppose.

The tastes should not be discussed though I can't imagine a week without books and on the other hand can't remember the last thing I've seen on TV from start till end, except news.
It was quite likely You were told the myth by a teacher in grade school. I can't recall whether there has ever been a version for kids.

Barta, not exactly about names but still... For some reason I liked Your previous avatar better but I guess "evil" people have to have "evil" avatars.

AlrikFassbauer, we can name the game how we like, the question is how will they name it.

Ovid's Metamorphosis (don't know the exact English title) has everything in it. Murder, crime, vicious deeds, tragic, everything.

I am really glad. Boginka wrote the story perfectly and I am gald to know that there are people who know the Myths of my country.

One small correction though. The fests of the God of Wine there were civilized They just drunk too much there
But usually those fests were for no harm. The worst thing that happened was the fest to turn up to an orgy. Ather than that they were drinking, eating and dancing and making love.

The story of the Golden king was ment to be a lesson in order humans avoid greed sp?

Al

Lar will Kill you! Lucretia the Riftrunner? Lol

Again (seem to like those )
In fact I take genuine interest in a few things and among them mythology and religion of different peoples..
I'm going to be bad and try to correct a Greek in terms of Greek mythology or rather religion.
Warning! Not very nice content - read at Your own risk.
Are You sure LUCRETIA, that tearing apart a bull with bare hands and consuming it's raw flesh still dripping with blood is entirely civilized? That is a description of one of the ceremonies that took place on the early feasts of Dionysus. You must know that at first Dionysus was the god of fertility and harvest (grape vine was not known in ancient Greece until I think IV/III century BC) and he was believed to sacrifice himself every year to be reborn the following one.. There are also descriptions mentioning the above being done to a human who impersonated Dionysus but I am rather skeptical. Of curse as time passed the cult of Dionysus got more civilized and in fact became the hub of Greek theatre, wine drinking and other... hmmmmmmm... activities

If I am still wrong Your corrections shall be most valuable.

AlrikFassbauer, hope that's not a suggestion to rename to Metamorphosis?

I changed my picture not to have an "evil" look but to have a "female" look.
