Did you remove the no-CD hack? I believe the blessing ceremony will work with the hack as long as the CD is in the drive. The hack should get you past the initial check, and I would think the video should play off the copied CD image. Maybe.
Did you try ejecting/un-mounting and loading/re-mounting the virtual CD-ROM when Divinity popped up the error message?
