The stats on my Boots Of The Vampire were about the best I found, but I wasn't looking to replace them, and rarely checked merchant's inventories for equipment. It also depends on what you are looking for as to what stats are good. For example, you don't get hit in the feet very often, so armour class wasn't a huge concern for me.
