Very well done, Marian. I think Spellforce as some of the best character animations I've ever seen!

Ok this game is cool but has some functionality flaws that will hopefully be taken care of.

1. Side scrolling, terrible just terrible not bad if you use WASD
2. Selecting units, maybe I just havent figured it out but why on earth didnt they make it so you could just double click and select all the the same unit type

Yeah so thats it really. If they can fix theez itll be an outstanding game....

I agree on the scrolling bit. You have to use the arrow keys. Mouse scrolling moves waaaaay to fast.
If you click on a unit when holding down ctrl then you will select all units of the same type.
Sooo much fun. I'm lvl 20 with an archer-mage at the moment. I may have made a few slip-ups in character design but will carry on nonetheless.

Digging out an old thread => the German addon to Spellforce: "Breath of Winter" is out. I guess, it won't take long until you English gamers will be able to play it.
Changes =>
- So far no towers <triple-sniff>
- you start from scratch, no transfer of your old char possible <quadruple-sniff>
- changes of the patch 1.1 are included => a nifty "sort" button for your items e.g. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
- you have all worker runes in level 1 and can get the higher ones later on => traders!
- you have all plans including the houses you have to build requiring a small chieftain's house (don't know the English name for this, hope you understand what I mean). Everything dealing with a middle sized chieftain's house has to be searched (I think... I'm not through yet. But I got a mission where I have a hunch, this could be the case)
- you have 2 NPC at the start to aid you in your first missions. You can't steer them, they fight as they wish, but are immortal. If their health is low, enemies cease to attack them.
- check out traders for hero runes. You will have to retrieve 2 heroes as part of the main quest, so you can start of pretty quickly with aid.
- on some maps you get troops to help you, you can steer them
- in some cases you take over an abandoned camp and therefore simply fill these houses, instead of activating a worker monument and starting from scratch.
- quests reach over several maps, so you have to return to some.
- quests are a matter of taste, but I liked them => Plot twists!
- by finding certain items, you can get a certain NPC to bind them to an empty hero rune => so far an imp, an elf, an Iron soldier and the stronger one => I don't know how they are called in English. These Iron soldiers with a tail => Blade-Weaver? (Klingenweber in German)
- there is a "free game button" - but I don't know if these are maps without a main mission for single or only for multi-player
- hmm, njamnjam - I love the music <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

- the only "bugs" I encountered so far => sometimes sound and music are gone, don't know if this is because of my system or using the quickload function. But if I exit the game and restart => everything is back again.
- ah, yes... this bitchy mouse control. Don't know how often I lost track of my troops, because my mouse was too fast.

Hm, as I'm playing it for the first time now => using the RPG approach as a Necromancer (only Death magic, all 3 paths) - it's difficult for me. But.. I'm hooked on it, in spite of dying a lot.

Please, tell me, if my summary gives away spoilers spoiling your fun. I can only recommend this add-on. And I love dealing with ice elves. If anyone wishes a short summary what this add-on is about => just say "peep".

Sounds really cool Kiya! Especially the hero-binding bit. There are new spells I presume? Are the Germans unwitting beta-testers again?

What do you mean by no towers? There were plenty of defensive towers in the original game.
Are the new missions any harder than the originals? I believe the 'free game' mode is a single-player feature where custom missions will be designed for you. I'll have to check out the spellforce website again. I haven't been back for a while...

New spells => There are essence spells for all paths, I presume, but I didn't try them out a lot. They are combo spells. E.G. lvl 2 on death/curse/necromancy => I have the Black essence spell and can cause damage. Didn't try this out a lot because I still love my old death spells. So far I found Essence 8 already, but I'm on lvl 6, so I can't say what the dam. will be.

No towers => means, no towers. No tower plans, Womble. I can't build towers <wail>. I'm lvl 12 now and still found no stupid tower plan for any race. And about the enemies => they HAVE towers. So... I've been in real trouble in one mission. Heavens, these towers gave cover to one another - until I had destroyed them I died a lot of times.

Harder => difficult for me to judge, as I'm no great strategy crack and am playing in RPG atm. Yes, I find the missions difficult. Why? Well... no towers <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> - and I run in single mode or with my heroes if I find a monument.

The thing I love most is the "sort" button - and this time you have certain coins (keep them) - you can ask for a goodie at a statue. Though, I could only do it 4 times (?), then it seemed to be deactivated. I'm not sure these coins are important for later on.

Enemies are cleverer now - I can't simply poison them and wait until they die - they notice it <sniff>.

Beta testers? I can't say so. Maybe for the multi player part? I'm very satisfied so far - except for the mouse, but I'm accustomed to it, and I can use the arrows <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

It's just a matter of taste, but I like the missions -e.g. you have to escort refugees - over 3 maps! And in one I had a time limit - not easy for a panicky gamer as I am.

Ok, on the 6th map I got my first tower plan for the elves - hoping for the others now.
A patch 1.35 was released - hope, I won't have sound crashes anymore.

Ok, UK version is out and is supposed to work with the US version. So far, I found no info about when US will be released.

the last posts confirmed, UK works with US version and can be bought by gogamer.com.

There is one huge problem with Breath Of Winter. When you hit the Firefangs, do NOT leave it under any circumstances until you have completed the missions there. There is a horrendous bug (NOT fixed by the latest patch) that means many players are unable to complete the mission as a conditional timer is not activated when it should be.

This means you can proceed no further in the game.

I found this bug the hard way, and after the horrendous time and effort I put into getting there, there is no way I am restarting - it's pretty far into the game. So I am stuck waiting for the next patch.

Thought this warning might help some of you not get trapped <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It IS a very good game - but not one I would ever recommend until this absurd bug is fixed.
