Hi,

Well now that I am 2000 gold poorer and have a useless magic carpet, sting, a non-working magic mirror, and an indestructible sword...

Is there anything useful that El'Gammon has to offer or did I just waste my time and money? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

FYI...I don't plan on reloading because it is part of the game, but damn I was hoping there was something beneficial to my encounter with this rogue. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Since I bought Sting from him, I can't get any additional dialogue except "Your my best customer./I haven't had a chance to try the item yet." What do you have to do to get the option to purchase other things?

use Sting near orcs. Your char should say something about orcs. Then new options come up. you have to try/find out that the stuff is fake first.

You don't have to be near orcs, do you? I clicked on the sword and my character commented that it did not start glowing even though there were trader orcs nearby. I was still standing in the inn and could not see any orcs at all...

It happened to me, I had cleared Rivertown completely from orcs and clicking on Sting brought up no conversation. I had to go to the Dark Forest

I agree. Clicking on "Sting" did nothing until I finally found some living Orcs west of the Elven Burial Ground. Once I clicked on "Sting" with Orcs nearby, I got a dialogue screen and the next time I saw El'Gammon, he was willing to sell me lots of "special" items.
