Link to V 1.4 comments. Dear Divinity fans,
While using my Editor to change a very long name of a randomly generated item (61 characters long) I realised that it did not show up because version 1.3 limited the name size to the standard data base 40 characters size.
1-That is why I have added the ability to see and edit names (read and write) up to 80 characters long.
2-There was also a trivial bug concerning field entry addresses that did not cause a serious problem else than miss-categorizing a couple of melee axes into head armour , but fixing it secures high reliability and performance.
3- The new list box size and the new text box size now do not fit into the 800x600 format and the editor V1.4 must be run in the (1024 x 768) resolution.
4- The GUI is now more relaxed and user friendly with some extra but minor added features.
There were some other discussions in which I explained what I was doing and how the program evolved to overcome inconveniences related to limiting the file size or the memory arrays.
Version 1.3 must be downloaded by the user who never had V 1.3 already.
Version 1.4 is an option for those who prefer “1024x768” resolution and a much better interface.
Basically, a new user needs to download 1.3 only or 1.3 and then 1.4 after the first installation to replace the executable only.
In all cases, when you run the program, you need to open the file named “items.000” that can be found inside the saved game directory, which you named during saving the game.
This means that the procedure begins by saving the game under a specific name first and then quitting the game to run the DDIE and load the file “items.000” from that directory in which you saved the game.
If you are satisfied with an item edited, it will be saved as you exit the editing panel through save and exit.
You may cancel the operation if you do not wish to save.
You may backup your original “items.000” file by a single click of a command button in the main panel.
That is all I think and the program is very user-friendly and self explaining too.
