Why am I considered a stranger? Does that indicate how long I have been a member of the forum? Or is it my preferences?

It's due to your post amount - but as a stranger you have not selected a class in your main configuration.

That is weird because I chose the mage class when I first became a member of the forums.

Please, check again - if you did that and posted afterwards 1x at least you should appear as "apprentice".
