English isn't my native language; I've met a number of writers whose mother tongue is not English, either, and they still write perfectly well. If one makes the effort, I don't see why one can't compose palatable prose. Moreover, no one held Alrik at gunpoint and forced him to translate, hmmm? If a wider audience was what he wanted, a wider audience is what he gets.
