Unfortunately, this is a chicken and the egg kind of problem. Game companies/publishers do not want to go through the extra effort and expense of making CD and DVD versions, and not everybody has a DVD drive because there is no software that requires it.
DVD drives are not that much more expensive than CD drives, so you'd think at least the games with high system requirements could assume everyone in the target audience has a DVD drive. Perhaps new FPS and flight simulator games will start a trend. Until games hit 6 or 7 CDs, I don't think there will be a huge consumer demand for change.



I tend to agree but...

One the one hand, you have companies writing for £370 graphics cards, making sure the games run with all the latest hardware. So why is a £30 DVD drive ignored??? Now come on...There must be more people with DVD drives than £370 worth of Graphics Card <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
