Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Technical Problems choppy sound - very annoying!

okay ive just got this game, seems pretty good, but ive stopped just now to ask everyone something. The sound is choppy! i can mess around my turning off ambience and music, and leaving only sound fx on - i can hear my footsteps and everything running about fine, but if i turn up either ambience or music or both, i get a constant tsst tssst tsst tsst sound in the backround. not only this but there seems to be white noise in the backround too! i hope this can be sorted i really dont want to play the game without ambience or music! that stuff is half a game i think!
my cpu is fair - no problems on any other games as far as im aware
radeon 9600xt
athlon 1600xp
512ddr ram
hercules fortissimo II sound card.

sorry not mentioned before, but yes i did update the game with the patch, and my dx is at 9.0

Try turning your sound hardware acceleration down (Start | Run, type in 'dxdiag' and switch to the sound tab).
BTW, if you had any problem with the video test and Direct 3D (conflict with some Radeon cards/drivers), you can just skip the test; the game itself runs fine in that video mode.

Hmm it maybe something with your CD-Rom drive, sometimes they give 'white noise', check if your tsst tsst sound relates to the spinning of your CD, either by listing close or checking the CD light <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/question.gif" alt="" />
