First, I thought "no, it's absolutely useless in OUR kind of Forum !"

But then I remembered types like Speedstr ...

I'm still undecided up till now.

Do you think it would bother him, if he had 1 Star? I don't think so. And even if it did, it wouldn't help.

Alrik, if you read a post: Do you make up your mind after reading the content or after looking at the stars? Just imagine hot discussions, emotions flare up, one is angry and rates the other one with a low star: Does this make the gamer, who lost contenance or the other one who reacts defensive a lowrated one? Just because of a hotly discussed topic?
How many actually low rated a gamer, by pressing "submit" too fast, thinking 1 is good and 5 is bad grade? And what about gamers changing? You don't have a chance to change your vote afterwards...
Every newcomer here starts with no stars, who thinks of rating afterwards? So the silent ones seem to others like lowrated gamers, regardless of their quality input in scarce posts.
Rating is judgemental in my eyes, very judgemental.
Kiya

Elgi: Hurt feelings - please take into consideration that not every one has a solid self-confidence, consider the age variety.

To all: Rating is hierarchy - not democracy. There is enough hierarchy in RL everyday life we can't dive away from - do we have to transport this into the Forum? Popularity contest instead of teamwork? I've always loved the cordiality and friendliness here on the board - I fear this will change.

man, it's weird that the buttons and quotes go in the language of the poster.

and YES, they are [color:"red"] USELESS [/color]

But Viper! I don't want to be a stranger!

That is a problem I also see! "You don't have a chance to change your vote" Why is it not possible, tho chance his own vote?

But I don't need any rankings an any title.

Hi Mslynx,
It's good to see you here too.
-The stars have nothing to do with the amount of posts you have. Stranger is just a forumtitle. When you reach 25 posts it will change in newbie.
The stars are "given" to you by other forummembers. I wouldn't take to much notice of those stars.

Okay! Who dared to rate me lower than 5 stars?

I don't want to be rated! Or at least I don't want to see my rating

hm... you too, eh.
The first (few) days we all got 5, and then all 4 (or 3).

I think we'll all end up with zero in the end. Probably best thing that could happen.

in my oppinion these stars just make some people unhappy, or atleast dubtfull on there selfs.
"mm would people realy see me as an bad person??" kind of tingie.
also the weight of the numbers of votes. i think the first 10-15 votes will make your numbers of stars.
but as so far i didn't see annyone more then 10 votes or so on there avartar.
this forum doesn't need "positions".
if we dislike someone , we very quickly find out in the conversations on the forum, with 15-20? daily posters around.. noboddy wil keep a secret

if we realy would judge someone because his/her behavior is totaly off balance like huge trolls.. we could make a blacklist , were only the moderators can edit it ?
..and we make a black list poll...but this is very very extreem i just wrote!(better forget it..)

I want to add my 2 cents worth here and say that when people like Dragon have 4 stars; and I know for a fact that he has always been helpful and polite to everyone then it is obvious that something is wrong with the ratings.

Down with ratings! Down with ratings!
