Yes, we are actually trading games.

The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

über, not uber

über means "super" like in "superior" or in "superflous" or in "Superman" or so.

Why don't you ask in the German part as well ? Nearly everyone there understands English and with it you'll reach even more people ! (Where is the Belgian Chat area ? )

You might try it here German Wizardry 8 thread , or here Need new RPG ! or here other RPGs , or here : Next Generation Spiele News (NGSN) .

I love this game.
It has become one of my 3 favorite RPGs: BG2, Arcanum and now Wizardry 8.
Although sometimes combat is annoying (I find myself trying to run from encounters when I can), the rest of the elements are great. I have a gadgeteer in my party which is one of the most original classes ever (it's like Jan Jansen in Baldur's Gate 2): you can create many wierd and amusing items from the junk you might find arround. For example, I created a Jack-In-The-Box trap and now use it to scare enemies.
The trap shows the game's sense of humour: when one of my characters died, another said "She's so young! So beautiful! So... So dead."
Or after talking to a priest, another character said something like: "He is a kind and generous soul. I hate him."
The RPG system is very interesting, allowing you to multiclass and specialize your heroes in several ways. You can also invite some characters in your party. I have a party of 8 now...
Then the conversation system: you can ask about every word the character says, which is often most helpful. Also you can attack, trade with, cast spells on, steal from, bribe... every character you talk to.
The blacksmith can make custom items, the barkeeper can share rumours and the city guards will asist you in battle.

It's the near-perfect RPG. I haven't tried continuous battle yet. Maybe it's better than the classic...

Thanks again, Cleglaw!

Wizardry 8 is one of the best RPG's that i ever played. Well, exept maybe Ultima VII and . And it's good to see that someone also loves Arcanum

I just finished Wiz 8 again tonight! Heres my party:

Flame - Lvl 24 Male Dracon Fighter
Burn - Lvl 24 Male Dracon Fighter
Chewie - Lvl 23 Male Mook Ranger
Ritishi - Lvl 24 Female Felpurr Rogue (I should have taken a gadgeteer!)
Raven - Lvl 22 Female Elf Bishop
Harry - Lvl 23 Male Mook Psionic

Definitely a great game. The strategic battles can be slow sometimes but its cool because its almost like playing chess.

Yeah. The only real drawback is imho the massive amount of fights.

Hello everybloody ,thought i would let y'all know i have just got this game(Wizardry 8) off e-bay for £8.50 including P&P, i have read thru the thread and i see there are mixed reviews, but hey, i had the patience of a saint to go all the way thru PS:T and thoroughly enjoyed it and i'm sure i'll enjoy this game, worth a go anyways.
I expect i'll get it going when i finish Lionheart, which was also slagged off on these forums, but i'm finding that game very playable indeed, just goes to show, each to his own.

I've played all the Wizardry games that where ever written. The very first was on an Apple II+ with 48k of memory, cost me $80.00 Canadian in 1983. That is how I got hooked on RPG games. Only games I play now are recommened games that are similar to Wizardry style.

Still play them. Am still playing on and off Wizardy I, IBM version.

Does anyone know what Identify item 9 in the Apple version did?

Also Wizardry 8 was great. Sad to hear that Sirtech is gone, but hey things change. Web site is still running so perhaps they will come back.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to hide the bodies of those I had to kill, because they pissed me off.

SirTech will come back later. Robert Sirotek said in the last interview (by Locust Inn, if I recall correctly) that they will eventually come back to make Jagged Alliance 3 and Wizardry 9.
So keep your Wizardry 8 end-game character ready .
