You can "hire" a Gadgeteer later in the game, don't worry.

A Bard can be "hired" as well, later.

(Or you know that already. )

Anyway, I must support spick : There are very nice Gadgets out there which are very good !

A Bard is also very useful ... I wouldn't know how to play without "Piercing Tunes" !

I regret a little that I forgot to create a bard, that is probably interesting. But I really did not want a gadgeteer. Too technical for me...

But aren't the effects of instruments and gadgets similar to certain spells anyway? E.g. "Piercing tunes" sounds like "Shrill sound".

I like my party as it is and so far my Lord was always right when he said: "No problem - we can beat them easily!" Well, almost always

@Kyra: When you are in a fight, click on the white sign beneath your character which shows which weapon he/she is using. You get a menu from which you can choose the character's next action. To choose a spell click on the book and you get a full menu of the character's spells. Choose a spell, its intensity and, if necessary, a target. The character will then say "Okay" or whatever and cast the spell when it's his/her turn.

Some spells may be cast when you are not fighting. Such as "Light", "Armor" etc. To do this activate the character and click the book. Then do as described above.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Sveltje!!!

I'm printing this out now!!!

I think I will have a Gadgeteer, since I have a kick-[nocando] name for him . (In case you whant to know, the name is Prylbögen, when bög is Swedish for gay, and pryl is Swedish for gadget, and the two together is Swedish for a guy who just loves stuff, no matter how useless it is. Quite the name for a Gadgeteer, don't you think?)

But a list? I feel allmost insulted ! Don't you think I could find them myself if I whanted to? And wouldn't a list spoil the fun of finding them anyway?

"Bögen" is in German the plural form of english "bow".

I really like the Swedish language. I tried to learn it once and simply loved words like "blyertspennor" (pencil). Your gadgeteer's name is very pretty, too!

I'm not supprized. In Swedish, to end a word with -en is like putting a the in front of it (in this case it would translated sound something like: the gadgetgay).

Well after a week of straight play...my party is going through everything alot faster then my previous party.(Lord, Fighter, Priest, Bard, Pshyic and Valkarie)

The Bard is really great.....His music abilty really helps and theres alot of specialized equipment for him. I think they made status alignments to strong in this game....especially for the enemies.

After what spick said I wish I brought along a Gadgeteer too...ack...well atleast I have a psyhic.

Does anyone know the Tryannie (Madras) ........he's a gadgeteer.

I whould take him.....rather than RFS-81, but I don't want to level him up if he can't go everywhere with me.

Does anyone know which NPCs can go were?
The only NPCs I never had promblems with are Vi and RFS-81.

Back On Topic

Thanks again for the help Sveltje.
I am now able to cast spells and I am having a great time playing Wizardry 8.

But I must admit I'm wimpy, so I have to play it on the Easy Mode.

Thank you again

Fine.

Me, I'm always the coward in these RPG, but I play W8 in "Normal". It's hard in the beginning, but after a while it gets better.

One more hint: When your spell casters level, you may save their spell picks for higher levels. It is quite useful to do this, since you can find many books in the game from which they can learn the lower and middle spells.

i haven't played wizardry 8 yet, though last year i almost bought it when i read good reviews about it. but what put me off was that one reviewer said that you play the game from a first-person perspective. is there no way of adjusting it to a third-person view?
