No, sorry its only first person, but that works very well, and you get some interaction from your created characters who's imagaes are around the outer edge of the screen.

i haven't played wizardry 8 yet, though last year i almost bought it when i read good reviews about it. but what put me off was that one reviewer said that you play the game from a first-person perspective. is there no way of adjusting it to a third-person view?

crusader

It's actually okay in that aspect crusader.

Unlike Morrowind you don’t have creatures hammering you from behind and you and your party will speak up if something is hidden or if a creature is coming.

It’s a totally different look and it’s not the same, BUT W8 is a whole lot like BG (Baldur’s Gate) and BGII in some ways.
However, don’t buy it thinking it’ll look like BG.
I only said it’s a lot like BG in some ways.

W8 uses a Turn Base fight style.

thanks for the quick help, spick & kyra. it's much appreciated.

i might give w8 a shot this time, since it's quite cheap nowadays. good that you mentioned morrowind, kyra. i bought that not knowing that it's played from a first-person perspective. i don't know but i just couldn't play those games,no matter how good they are. that's why those shooter games don't appeal to me at all. and that's also why when i learned that w8 is like that, i immediately banished the thought of playing it.

and it's perfectly okay to me whether w8 is as good or not as good as BG.i judge a game on its own merits; i don't base it on my expectations from another game.saves me from a lot of disappointment, don't you think so?

i have no problem with a turn-based system, either. in bg and iwd2, i always set the game to pause when enemy is sighted, target is destroyed, and the like.
i can use a break from the frantic click-fest of diablo ii.

thanks again.

Cool to hear!

Just make sure you read that PDF manual on the disc real good.
There's a lot of keyboard functions you'll need to use along with mouse functions and don't worry it's not confusing.

Basically, you'll only need to print out two of the pages for reference.

MysterD

I have installed it and it has run without any problems on Win95 through WinXP.

Just make sure your version doesn't need the patch and read the Wiz8 home web page FAQ's if you have play problems.

The system tester that comes with the game doesn't always work.
The web FAQ's will give you some routes to help solve your dilemma if you have one.

OK, I've downloaded it. And installed it. There is no manual though. Anyone who knows where to find one?

In a store.
Publicly admitting you have downloaded a game on a place such a web forum won't get you far. Some forums insta-ban people for that, by the way.

If I could buy the game, I would buy the game. But I can't buy the game, and I allmost can't download the game. I DID try to order the game (four 419 kr, which is rouglly 30 less that a completelly new game. I ordered it for 419 kr five years after it was released. That's how much I want this game), but the store we oredered from said they couldn't find it anywhere, so we had to cancel the order. So don't come and say 'it's in the store', because it isn't. I've checked.

I did read most of it through yesterday... But I'll check my discs before I read it through again ...

And I have a minor problem: I did some characters for my party yesterday (I'm a lonelly fairy bard ), and I feel like I have too many characters for my own good. I have a lizard fighter, a ferpurr (I think, not used to the race names. It's the cat anyway) samurai, a mok ranger, a gnome gadgeteer (with the nickname prylbogen ), and me as a bard. Now, I feel I need more frontline power, but allso that I need another caster (possiblly a priest, or something like that). I was thinking of adding a lord to the party (they gaet priest spells at level five), but allso of adding a priest and removeing either the bard or the gadgeteer (*sniff* [Linked Image]. Anyway, I read somewhere in the thread you can find either a gadgeteer or a bard, but the gadgeteer will leave, eventually. Don't remember how it was with the bard, but if I can find a bard who will stick with me, I'll make myself something different (maybe that caster I need )), and adding a priest. But with a samurai and a lizard fighter (who both will turn into powerpacages, I think), I don't really need another brute, I need more of a healer, who can allso fight (ie a cleric), but neither the bishop nor the priest seems like that kind of character, and the lord seems more like a fighter who can allso heal, and I want the healing to be the prime.

OK, I browsed through the thread again, and didn't find a link to download the manual. And it wasn't on one of my discs either ...

Übereil, I can only advice you to NEVER openly shout out you have "downloaded" something. At least as long as you're not 100 % sure that it is free.

OK... (Why didn't you say so earlier...)

Anyway, the game seems easy enough. I've browsed around the monastery for a while with my brand new party, containing a lizard fighter, a felpurr samurai, a dracon valcyr, a mook ranger, a... priest of some kind... A rawin priest, it is, and a gnome gadgeteer. Killed some things, found some things (the ranger who is allways scouting is nice. Don't know how it would work without it though...). Havn't rested yet...

Why shouldn't it be possible, Spick? PDF is a widely used format so I am sure Übereil has Adobe Acrobat Reader.

I was more worried about what sort of size it would be and how to go about doing it?

Have you got Gmail or ICQ/MSN (only one of the last required)? If you do, I just give you my adress/ICQ number/MSN account name, and it's set. Oh, and thanks for helping .

So, I'll get no manual? Oh, well, I'll manage, I usually do. It's just that by reading your posts it seemed over complicated, whcih I didn't feel it was in-game...
