@Rincewind
Thanks. I have tried this method from Symantec, but I am downloading Spybot and have bookedmarked Pest Patrol's Site. If need be I will do everything humanly possible to stop this short of woping my hard drive clean and starting over.

Ok I did the Ad-aware, Spybot, NoAdware, pest's Patrol and Kims site advice and still I get popups. Right now I am not getting any, thats after running the above three programs about six times with a restart in between each set. If I get any more I am going to contact Dell Support and see what they have to save.

Errm, I'm sorry, but have you rwead this one ? Scroll down to my last post !

There is actually a "company" out there using Trojans and Popups to try to sell their "anti-popup"-thing. Very nasty !

Had you read this link before, maybe some answers had been given before. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

disable windows messenger.

start >run >compmgmt.msc . under services and applications click on services. on the right scroll down until you see Messenger. right-click, select properties. under the general tab you should see "startup type". disable it. this will stop the pop-ups.

Great. Now try Mozilla 1.6. Get rid of AOL and use an isp who doesn't make you install their software which then spreads it's tendrils throughout your system. Update and run Spybot and Adaware. Keep your antivirus current and active. What am I saying? You already know all this. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. Go Goldy!

When purchasing a new ISP

Money and Reliability should be the only factors when purchasing

Money(cheap)/Reliablility(constant unwavering upload and download)

get a cable modem with your local cable provider, and use Netscape or Opera for your browser.

I definitely agree on the cable modem. I'll never go back to dialup. I must again say that Mozilla is the way to go--free. Continually updated. Unbound by commercial considerations--I think, although I certainly could be wrong that Netscape doesn't have a builtin popup blocker. Mozilla certainly does. I can't remember the last time I saw a popup on my machine with the sole exception of when I used IE.

netscape and mozilla are the same thing. they both have the same pop-up blocker, and it just happens to be one of the best. definatly the way to go.
