I din't know the game Mafia, but I have seen Grand Theft Auto. The thing I really don't like about games with this type of theme is that there were people like thaat in the neighborhood I grew up in, and they are not the kind of folks you want to glamorize or copy. They are cruel and unpleasant and will hurt and degrade others without a second thought.
Unlike GTA, Mafia doesn't glamourize the gangsters, Alex.
I agree with you: people think being a "Gangsta" is cool whereas they're not someone you'd like to meet... I don't like GTA, btw. Vice City was good because of the music <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" /> but monotonous and the characters (except for Lance Vance) were awfully borring.
Mafia was out for a year or two... I am not sure. It's by the makers of Hidden and Dangerous: Illusion Softworks (not to mix with D.I.C.E. of Battlefield 1942 [Digital Illusion Computer Entertainment]).
