I simply can not believe it!!! I am so glad that I jump all over my office!!!

I am in the team of www.Gamerspot.gr

I have send them a kind coment that Beyond Divinity is not mentioned in the site. They replyed kindly wanting some info. I send them a short preview of Beyond Divinity hoping that they will get some information from it and write an article. But today I got an e-amil from them congratulating me and welcoming me in the team of Gamerspot. They said that they loved my preview and they uploaded it in the site!!!!

They want me to write more about and other games!!

So with proud I present you my first preview for in Greek site (yeah!!!!) and I hope with all my heart that the game will sale like crazy in Greece.

Have a look please if you want. It is in Greek but if you want me I will make a translation for you.

Lynn please tell me how do you like the page setup if you got a minute.

Sorry for that long post. I am so happy!

Congrats Lucretia. Good work.
If you have some time, yes, I'd love to see it in english.

Just couple of questions Lu, So, you are going to write games reviews for the greek gaming newletter. Will you be paid on review basis or full-time or this is volunteery work? It sounds quite exciting to do a work you do, just curious.

Thnx so much!

@ Egin

Nope I am not going to be payed. I already have a steady and well payed job. Writing in Gamerspot will be something like hobby for me. Every gamer I think who likes a game would want to write something about it. So in my spare time I will write about games that I love. Games that gave me pleasure and fun. I don´t mind that I will not be payed. I am not rich but I can manage to pay my bills and have a good life, so thats ok with me I will write with love for games and that is enough for me. Gamerspot team is parted from gamers after all but from what I have seen, they try to do quality work and I like the way they write for games. With respect. Thank you again so much for the kind words. I will make a translation soon. The preview is about things you already know but it is a start in Greek sites for Beyond Divinity.

@ Viper your idea worked and took me one step beyond.... thnx

Oh and I don´t have the system requirements of . Could someone please tell me were I could find them? I want to add them in the preview. Thnx in advance.

Way to go, Luc!

As for the specs, I believe they are:

- Similar to the ones of
- But a little higher

I'm not sure the Larians already know...

Thnx Kejero.

I will wait a bit till I am sure about the system requirements.

Here is a quick translation (very quick in fact. My English are worse than my Greek you know that already )

Beyond Divinity

The adventure goes on…

The new RPG of Belgian Larian Studios, the company that in 2002 created the very successful Divine Divinity, is going to be published in the first quarter of 2004. The newborn child of Larian is baptized “Beyond Divinity” and it is set in the well-known - and well-tested – universe of Divinity. The game consists the second part of this universe that is going to include and a third game (expected to be published in about the beginning of next year).

As Swen Vince mentions, “Beyond Divinity is a continuation of the Divinity Universe. We’ve had thousands of true fans that loved Divine Divinity, who came to our forums and voiced their appreciation, and subsequently have craved for more. Beyond Divinity has been developed with these fans in mind.”

The creation for the game started secretly in 2002 and today is in the final phase. Larian Studios has already announced officially the publication of the game.

With nailing down, strong story line, new, without limitation character development system, outstanding interface environment, renewed real time 3D graphics, hundreds of new unique objects and a fresh new combat system, Beyond Divinity approaches the perfect, pure RPG. Rare innovation, the character choices. You can play as a male, female or … a child!! The secret ace in Larian´s sleeve is the game’s random quest generator, which promise endless gaming.

In the game you find yourself bonded with a Death Knight. You fate is to spend eternity chained with this evil creature except if you change things and break the curse that chained you with him. You and your strange partner you set sailing for a big adventure to discover the locked secrets of the world in which you are trapped. Rifts hide the solution in getting out of darkness. Will you make it?

The game is going to be published in PC CD ROM and later will follow the Macintosh publication. The demo is expected to come up few weeks before the game is published.

According to the factsheet which comes with the fansite kit the system requirements are as follows:

System Requirements: Pentium III-500, Geforce 2 class 3D accelerator, 128 MB of RAM

I'm glad to hear of your new position. It looks like you already have an article posted.

By the way, you brought me into an idea ...

EDIT : I just see they have listed CDV as publisher ... could you correct this, Luc ?

@ Bernhard

@ DATD you are a sweatheart.

@ Al if you were writing in Greek language site owners would do fights to get you.

@ Cleglaw thank you, thank you, thank you. I will post right away.

Please, please tell me the publisher. I didn´t give that information but they assumed that it would be the same publisher with . If someone knows please tell me. I don´t want to have faulse information about . I will mail them at once but could someone please confirm who the publisher is?

What is that Ouzo again ? Never heard of it.

@Lucretia
Thanks for translation Luc, I didn't know you can play as a child in Beyond It is impressive.

@ Larians
I can only say that you need better advertising with Beyond Div.
Divine Divinity deserved better promo also. I can only guess how many RPG fans still don't know about the game.

Ouzo is a typical Greek alcoholic drink.
Every shop selling Greek foods should have it, I guess.
When every country has things for which it is known, then it's Athen, Ouzo and Zaziki and Olives as typical Greek products for me.

(Germany would be Sauerkraut, I guess. )

Zaziki or Tsaziki or Tzatsiki ... I don't actually know how it's spelled.

It's a kind of sauce usually made for Gyros, and it mainly consists of curd, as far as I know. I think Luc should describe it, she knows it better than me.

Sorry for the late reply Lucretia. But a big congratulations from me as well

As to the publisher in Greece. There is no word about it as far as I know. The following countries have a publishing deal, that I know of:
North America, Japan, UK, France, Czech, Slovakia, Poland, Taiwan, Germany, China and Russia.

Other countries I have not seen a confirmation of. But I think Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg will be done by MediaMix again. If you want to find out the Greek publisher then contact the one that did Divinity also. There is a reasonable chance that they will be taking care of Beyond Divinity also.

As far as Tzatziki it is made from yogurt, garlic and smashed cucumber.
It is very usual dressing for many foods. It is often used in souvlaki but generally you can eat it with any meat plate. Greek salad is something else. It is made by tomatoes, cucumber, feta cheese, olives and olive oil, salt, and a bit of oregan

But I mean it people stay away from ouzo. It has an awsome smell and taste but it is very strong. And it causes a pretty nasty hangover...

Lucretia.
Thank you for sorting things out for me. I have tried greek salad, though in estonian interpretation. I will look for some Ouzo to taste it. And may be I will be lucky enough to find some recipes for Tzatziki and souvlaki.

Concerning Ouzo...

Lucretia, don´t warn them! Ouzo is a great drink and not so strong than you say here. I have some (a lot ) of experiences with it, due to my time in Cyprus.

Ouzo has about 40% Alcohol which is roughly the same as brandy. One should drink it after or before (better after) good meals and one should stick to maximum 2 glasses. Then Ouzo is a great drink.

If you really want to make a mistake then drink 10 glasses without any meal........

Speaking from experience, getting review copies is at times more work than it's worth. In these days, we have to practicly 'beg' publishers to send one and then have to keep on asking over and over again if they've send one. Sometimes we don't even bother. We just buy the games we would have bought anyway and review that and ask for review copies for the others. If they don't send one in the end then they don't and we don't review it.

Got it. I was intrigued, I went to local store and looked for greek products, I have found Ouzo. I have it here on my table, it tastes like aniseed vodka, maybe a bit sweeter. It is nice. Cheers

@ Merendrious

Where are you! Missed ya!

@ Morbo

Erh I don't think so. I think that Greece is a very small market, so if the game companies give to everyone who is writing a review one copy of the game... well in a small market like my country, I don't think that it would be very profitable. There are some very good pc magazines though and I think that at least there should be send a copy. The people there write really good reviews and those magazines have a wide sirculation in here. So I will buy the games as usual and play them and then write about what I think. I don't mind that. I would buy them after all.

And I think that it is not big deal really to be in Gamerspot. I don't know if they will like any other of my reviews... It happened to be good news the publication of . I have send a full review for Diablo2 and it is not uploaded (don't know if it will yet ) My joy was mainly for Larians. Advertising in a small country like mine is not first priority, so if some sites write about the game perhaps it will make the most possible sales.

@ Faralas

It is ok! Perhaps one day (as Kejero said) I will manage to make my page. I am still learning. And all those wonderfull people in here help.

@ Bernhard

Next time you will come you will drink ouzo from Mitilini (an island that mostly produces ouzo). And then you will tell me Hope you are not too big. I am very small and I will not be able to carry you...

depends on the publisher, I have a friend (my clanleader actually) that does some freelance reviewing for 'netwerk', a dutch IT mag.
nintendo happely sends over copies before the release date, so does contact data (belgian games retailer), but about 3 days after the review deadline
Best is to have a steady contact for the publisher I guess.

It indeed depends on the publisher. We have some good contacts and some that suck. Atari is one of the worst in the bunch.
For starters publishers do not have to send us anything. If that's their policy then that's ok. But promising they will and then don't send anything doesn't do much for their credibility.
That said, magazines are not comparable to online sites. Magazines are always favored above online nwessites.

Myrthos is right. I think that sending free copies depends on several things. As I wrote above I think that it depends on how big is the market of a country. Then I agree with Myrthos, it is about publishers´ policy and marketing strategy, and last but not least the magazine or the site. Well known magazines, with a big number of steady readers are I think in the top of the list for free copies.

I have to note something here. IMHO, getting a free copy of a game it is important, but not because it is free. If you like to write reviews, you sure are a gamer and a gamer can not resist. You would buy the game after all. But getting a copy a bit EARLIER than its publication to the rest of the market is the most important. You have the chance to play it a bit, and then write about it, so when the game is finally out, gamers feel already the urge to buy it. A review I think (if it is positive) can be a big teaser to the gamers and the best advertising. Almost all the games I have bought was after reading a review.

@ Bernhard

No luck I will leave you drunk whenever you are. Too big for me.

@ Merendrious

I did Diablo2 review (I know you saw it). Now I am thinking to make a review about Broken Sword - The sleeping Dragon. I want to play it a bit more so I will know better. We missed ya.

I'm voting for Greek Prophet. Afterall, the contributions we honor her for are all related to the Greek language, so besides the fact she's Greek, the name also tells a bit about the reasons that made her a prophet. If it ever happens, of course

Hm, Penelope was Ody's wife, Nausikaa was Princess ... really, I don't remember many heroines from ancient greek tales ...

So why not use a Goddess as name ?

EDIT : I remember a few greek female philosophers ... remarkable persone ... especially the woman who ran the Library of Alexandria.

Her Beyond Divinity site is organised by someone else, but it's her content. The preview she wrote was because she was a fan, and the title Prophet (of Doom) is given to fan sites. Could that be sufficient?

That's my reasoning.

@HandEFood
That would work especially if she added some screenshots to her preview and to the review after the game comes out.

@Kejero
very good point, and I voted for Greek Prophet

Prophetes is the word for Prophet from the Greek language. I know From Greek looks like it runs into the word. Sorry. As I stated this is my first pole and I kinda messed up on the spacing. Just as Propheta is from a late Latin translation meaning Prophet. Interpreter Of Divine Will is what my dictionary says a Prophet is. Soothsayer is another word for Prophet. I tried to cover all the bases here. And of course we have the Greek Prophet. But, I personally did not like the thought of isolating her by her country...

Reading your post, a new title jumped into my mind : "Oracle of Delphi" !

Well, the problem is, that there is a company called like the first word already making databases, whereas the third word already is a programming language ...

Sorry Mea but Plato and Homer where not prophets. Plato was philosopher and Homer was actually a bard (sp?) something like a singer. Prophets in ancient Greece where males and females. In Delphi, Pithia was a woman. She was the one who was giving oracles to people. The Gods will.

I like the way conversation turned out. Lol in a little while we will start betting And Lynn is going to kill us But I think that you are all great. My vocabulary is very limited to describe you

How many prophets do you know?

Ooh! HandE that's asking for it, isn't it!
 • all the various ppl on this board with a "prophet" under their name
 • Me, cause I am egocentric, egoistic and egotistic

Oh and Luc I wasn't inferring that Plato and Homer where Prophet's, but they just popped into my mind when ppl where looking for titles.

However it seems that you have answered the question Beatifully yourself, I kind of think that you would fit into the Bard category

Sort of like this:
 • Lucretia
 • Battlemage
 • Bard of Divinity

Now that is a title. MeaCulpa you came to the rescue again. But, no more please, I seem to be having a problem sticking to one title.

Morbo asked me few pages ago if I will have free games for reviewing. I answered him back then that I didn´t think so. Well today I received an e-mail by NightElf (He owns Gamerspot.gr) who informed me that I will get my first free copy of Battle Mages from Buka Enter. I must play it, test it and write a review. So I guess I will have some free game copies after all

Well good for you girl though I wish I could see your boss's face while you are dancing (hmm while I think about it I think I like to see you dancing too)
I do however have a faint suspicion that he (your Boss) is way to happy with you to actually fire you, he might want to paddle your bottom (gosh I would) and make you stand in the corner for not concentrating but fire you ..... never [Linked Image]
