Myrthos is right. I think that sending free copies depends on several things. As I wrote above I think that it depends on how big is the market of a country. Then I agree with Myrthos, it is about publishers´ policy and marketing strategy, and last but not least the magazine or the site. Well known magazines, with a big number of steady readers are I think in the top of the list for free copies.
I have to note something here. IMHO, getting a free copy of a game it is important, but not because it is free. If you like to write reviews, you sure are a gamer and a gamer can not resist. You would buy the game after all. But getting a copy a bit EARLIER than its publication to the rest of the market is the most important. You have the chance to play it a bit, and then write about it, so when the game is finally out, gamers feel already the urge to buy it. A review I think (if it is positive) can be a big teaser to the gamers and the best advertising. Almost all the games I have bought was after reading a review.

@ Merendrious
I did Diablo2 review (I know you saw it). Now I am thinking to make a review about Broken Sword - The sleeping Dragon. I want to play it a bit more so I will know better. We missed ya.
