I have heard and read many good things about this game but I am really frustrated. I have done everything in Aleroth and am level 9, almost level 10 warrior. I had to run all the way first to Blue Boar Inn, then to Dwarven Bread ( I died 2 times the first couple of times on that trek), then to Ars M, and finally to Verdistis. I have been reading hints, but for instance Verlat has yet to approach me and yes, I healed both soldiers back in Aleroth. I am not strong enough to fight most critters apparently and do not have enough money to buy better armor. It appears from what I have read that the sewers are too hard for me.For instance, I read there are problems if your spiritual resistance is not about 10-12. Shoot! Mine is still zero. Is there somewhere that I can fight and not die. The orcs in groups killed me. <sigh> Any ideas would be appreciated.
Also, what or where is this world map ppl keep marking? It sure isn't on the one Zandalor gave me.
Thanks. I needed to vent.

Hello and Welcome.
- A general rule : The more away from Aleroth you are, the stronger the enemies get.
- Around Aleroth there are many Orcs. If you want, you might "clear" that area for getting more experience points
- use Potions ! Personally, I believe that at kleast one point in the "Alchemy" skill is a "must-have" , because it saves *lots* of money ! Visit Lanilor's garden to experiment !
- there are some Quests in Verdistis almost weithout fighting. If you wish, you might try them, too.
- the smiths (Otho and Geoff especially) are good places top sell what you've got. Try selling everything, except what yopu need, because especially in the beginning it's the only way to get more mones - and it will improve the relationship top the merchants / shopkeepers !
So far some "advices" from me.
Alrik.

Thank you very much Alrik - I did clear abit around Aleroth and could do two orcs, but more was courting disaster - nay, welcoming it. Will sell some things as a starter and try out alchemy.

For the main map, it is in the same menu as the quest long, character traits, and conversation log. The default hotkey is 'A'. You may need to zoom out a bit to find map flags NPCs mention.
If you get surrounded the warrior's swirl attack is very effective. You can also run away a bit, so a group will spread out when coming after you.

Hmm ... personally I used to bait those Orc's (if there was a group of them) by carefully sneakin up to them and from a distance shooting one with a bow, then runn like H*ll untill the orc appears on screen again shoot and run again and again, oh and btw (minor spoiler) don't worry about the Orc drummer until you can damage him more than he can heal himself or until you have some form of freeze Remember long distance is safe distance
