I'm not sure if anyone remembers the thread about D&D rules that I posted several months ago. I finally got the game and installed it in my computer. It took me a while to get used to the rules.
Ubereil, if you like the fighter class, don't take the plain fighter. Take the kits instead. You can choose between Kensai or Berserker.
Kensais are lethal at higher levels because they gain +1 to hit and +1 damage for every three levels. Make him a half orc kensai with 19 STR and 19 CON (you don't need INT and WIS, but you might want high CHA to get cheaper prices in stores). Have him dual wield either longswords, axes, and/or warhammers (I prefer longswords, though axes might be better). On the downside, a Kensai cannot wear any armor. But you can use rings, cloaks, amulets that give bonuses to Armor Class.
As an alternative, you could choose a dwarven or half orc berseker. Half orc is better because a dwarven fighter receives -1 penalty to DEX and -2 to CHA. A Berserker has a special ability to enrage which gives may bonuses to lots of stuff (like immunities to charm, fear, imprisonment, etc).
If you don't want pure fighter, then you could choose multi/dual class characters (fighter/druid, fighter/cleric, fighter/mage, fighter/thief)
Ubereil, if you have any problems with the game, I'd be glad to help out (I'm not saying I'm an expert, though).
I hate this game because it makes me loose my appetite and unable to sleep at night. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
