Just a question. Did you have problems with the cd key? Like saying invalide code?

The installer won't proceed if you type an invalid key.

Ok I have news!

I have two pc at home. The one that I previously discribed and an other little older pentium 4 in 1.7 Ghz with a TNT 32 MB video card and 128 MB ram. This pc is not conected to the internet so it is almost 5 years since I have updated the drivers or anything in it. I made a try to see what will happen and guess what. The game runs perfect.

I installed the expansion too and the game runs fine. I can not understand that though. It is very strange! I run the game withouth the patch and I have almost finished the first chapter and there seems that there is no problem at all. I don´t know if the lack of the patch will cause me any problems afterwards but up till now I have done almost all of my quests without any crashes or something.

@ Jolie no the cd key had no problem at all.

As for my monitor I tryied from the configuration of the game some other resolutions but the result was the same. The game does not want to run in my main and fav. pc! I have installed the very newest drivers from NDIVIA (latest one December) but still the same. Completelly unistalled the utility that came with my TFT monitor and still nothing. I tryed to run the game from my DVD or my CD rom, again nothing.

BTW did I tell you that ATARI sucks? ATARI SUCKS! I submited a form with all the information and they replied that I should ask for help from the Greek part of tecnical support. I tryied to contact the address they suggested and it was invalid. I informed them that the address was invalid and they did not bother to reply to me. So rude!

NWN is a really nice game. I hope that I will able to finish it in the pc I installed it. I hope that the patch is not so necessary

luc, i'm sorry if i sound very stupid.

have u uninstalled NWN completely in your fav system & then installed NWN again without any patches or critical build?

maybe u should try that out without worrying if it might crash or not. i hope it's ok.

when it comes to winXP, i'm stumped. never work with that yet. so far i can still make WinMe work for all the games i play though it may not be the best platform.

this is weird. are both your systems running winXP? are u running the game as administrator? so u see, i play games on simpler platforms so i'll get simpler problems. i hate surprises.

if i can be there to check your system, i may be able to make it work. i guess u have to ask others who know winXP. sorry, luc.

Janggut you are so sweet

Well get ready for a surprise. The system in which the game does not work runs Win XP. The system that it works run WinMe. And I come to think that this system is treated in an anfair way. XP has so many problems. ME may be simple yet more stable I think. People say that it is not stable but considering that I run a heave game like NWN in this without a patch and the minimum memory ME behaves just fine! Not a single crash. I hope that later in the game it will go the same. I am only at the forst chapter yet.

How old is the game? If the game is really old then WinXP might not support the game. This is a fairly big problem because other older games also don't run on WinXP. My diablo 2 game also doesn't run on my WinXP. This might cause the problem. But I have also looked on the bioware site, but they say that its also runs on a WinXP computer. It is still a strange problem.

NWN is supposted by windows XP. At least that it what the box says.

Strange. Diablo 2 ryns perfect in my XP. Have you installed the patch for Diablo 2? Have you installed service pack 1 for windows XP?

Diablo 2 SHOULD run in windows XP. I have even played on multiplayed mode with Windows XP without any problem.

Check for the patch. Without the patch the game did not run in my system either.

there goes that winXP ruining peoples' lives at random. sometiems at diablo 2, sometimes at NWN, all the time elsewhere.

maybe next year then i'll attempt winXP. once everyone says it's stable.

Well, I have the same problem as you Lucretia. On my old computer diablo 2 works with Win98SE, but on my new computer with WinXP it doesn't work.
Well I see if I can download the patch and then give it another shot. I downloaded already Service Pack 1. (Wish me luck)

I am almost positive that if you download the patch Diablo 2 will run fine in your pc.

Good Luck

I've got WinXP and, oddly enough, have never had any problems with any game. Except for FFVII, but there's a patch for that particular incompatibility, too.

On a second thought, Lucretia, is it XP Professional Edition or Home Edition?

Can i make a wild guess here and say that you people are building or burning your computers as opposed to buying them or having a tech burn them????

Just curious...

All my PCs were burned with the help of tech, who is a friend of mine. We choose parts for my computer and he puts them together.

First, and not to rude, but you might save yourself a lot of frustration by checking the damn tech support for NWN. I work in a tech support center and I can tell you that they will most likely have the best answers because they have dealt with all of these similar issues. Also, you paid for the product (I assume) so you are entitled to support. Here is the link for your situation:

Anyway, the easiest way to update your GeForce2 drivers is to open up Internet Explorer and go to Tools-->Windows Update. Then, after you click Yes or whatever to initialize it, on the left you can click on the Drivers tab and then select the one from Nvidia Corp. Reboot is required.

@ Winterfox

It is Windows XP Home edition.

@ Nero

The damn tech support of NWN is not replying. As I said above the suport of NWN sucks and I mean it. I have payed 40 € for their product and all the support I had from them was an invalid mail address.

I have updated my video card with the recent drivers and trust me I have rebooted my pc after that.
