Its quite good, the plot is a little incoherrent but it has one of the best combat engines Ive ever seen in a console style game. Most console style RPG's suffer from continuos random monster encounters, but in Grandia you can see every monster on screen and avoid them. Even better, you can actually sneak up on them and make a surprise attack which gives you intiative for the first round.
