The point I was trying to make was that although I might have prefered to play a more adventure/quest related role, due to the way experience is allocated so easily for killing monsters i've found myself just going around looking for things to kill to get the experience, so much so that i spent levels 15-18 just going around killing monsters, and it took me about 20 minutes to go up 3 levels.
I know that the exp you get for killing monsters depends on level (killing a heavy orc at level 6 is pretty good, but at level 18 not so spectacular) but all you have to do is search around for an area with monsters which are just tougth enough to kill, and get you decent exp. Then just wander around backwards and forwards killing them all.
Fighting monsters is part of the game I enjoy. Having played morrowind I found it stupid that you had to search around for hours just for someting to fight. However the quests are what make the game and in other games your virtually out of your seat celebrating when you solve a difficuly quest and are rewarded accordingly. At times during this game i've solved quests and just thought so what, I got that amount of experience for killing 2 mutated spiders (which you can kill in 2 shots with the right weapon). Even at level 19 you get decent exp for killing mutated spiders as they are seen as strong, but aren't really. At level 19 I also went up 2 levels just fighting all the orcs on my way to blowing up their supplies. On returning to Lord Midrox(or something) who set the quest I received a tiny experience bonus, so small I couldn't even tell if i'd been given any experience.
