Am on level 3 of catacombs, zombi killed. Have two tombs left to open, decimated every time try to open one. Am warrior at level 4. Did I miss some quest so I am too weak? Cured two soldiers, rescued lanilor, gave herbs to george. Please advise.

At first make sure that you are on difficulty level easy. You can change the difficulty whenever you like to.

You missed the quest with the axe and the orc than, but this shouldn´t do a difference. Try to have enaugh potions and use your special swirl attack. Go outside the catacombs and buy better equipment at Georges store.

What kind of character are you playing and what skills do you have?

Did get the quest from the Orc and gave him all three axes but he said it wasn't the correct one.

When identified, the correct axe is called Slasher.
You can leave Aleroth an level up a bit on the orcs, though I wouldn't go too far south. A bow and hit-and-run tactics would help.

Others here might disagree, but I found a melee warrior the hardest of all the characters to play in the catacombs. Later on the warrior will do much better. Anyway make sure you carry potions with you, and set 1 of your tp stones next to a bed in Aleroth so that you can tp there and sleep as needed to restore health. Gregar the zombie can be of help to you too, but he will take exp points away from you if he lands the killing blow instead of you. Save often. You might die and have to do some parts over. Remember to use your special Warrior skill when you get surrounded, but it is better not to get surrounded and take on enemies one at a time. The Slasher Axe is in a small area which you enter via a floor tile. Proceed cautiously when you go in there and try to avoid engaging more than one or two skellys at a time. If the big guy in there is too tough you can always run past him, get the axe and then go back and kill him later when you are a higher lvl.

you can try going outside the gates and killing some of the weak orcs. they give desent exp, and might help you level up to get through the catacombs.

In my short experience, on normal - mage was easiest, warrior is harder, and survivor is just plain difficult. My Mage has made it through all the catacombs, my warrior is stuck on on the last catacomb level, and my survivor is stuck where your warrior is/was.

personally i havent completed it, cuz i insist on completing it on the hardest terms:
1) No Deadly gift
2)No Archers (so no using the supa fast bows)
3)Hard mode only (obviously)
4)No wisdom (makes it harder to lvl)
using these rules i havent even left the healer village yet cuz one orc can kill me
you really should try it, adds a bita spice to your DD life

haven't tried the hard mode yet....but even then on those terms it's still very well doable..for mages and warriors...don't know about survivors

I always use the servant to my advantage. I level as much as I can outside of the healer village, going in and out of the catacombs over and over. Then I bring him into my service when I know I am just goin to open the tombs. He takes the brunt of the punishment for my character, by taking on the lesser baddies, while my main character takes on the Big Bad. I always save before I open the tombs in case he gets killed. That way I can reload him and run away when his health starts dropping. Also I can reload if the Big Baddie drops something I don't want or need. I find this works very well. I have spent up to 5 hours just on level 3 alone. Hum, with patience you can get some very sweet drops.

My advice would be to go outside get "good nights sleep" at joram's house then buy some potions from lanilor to heal yourself. go outside and fight all the orc warriors and crossbow orc's you can without dieing. but if a heavy orc is there run like hell to Seth and let seth kill him then take whatever the orc drops and use or sell it. Also when you do give the axe to Smiruk it should be a glowing level 4 axe, and if you have anyother axes on you that you want to KEEP do not give him slasher because he will take them all... also dont follow the orcs up that ladder until ur alot stronger.

you can easile be at level 9 just slaying orcs outside aleroth....
it should be enough to get you through level 3....allthough i never clear the catacombs before level 12 anymore, it's very well doable though...but it's better to be save then sorry
