I was a huge fan of Divine Divinity, for me personally that game was the best i ever played, graphics were wonderful almost reminding me of classic paintings and it was so nice to see something different, not the usual pitch dark atmosphere of all those diablo-like games...its so unfortunate that the designers of Beyond Divinity have decided to go back to the dark graphics found in ALL the games of this kind, dont you think players are tired of all those pitch dark backgrounds found in so many games? i know i am

Hello, and Welcome to this Forum.

First, yes, the graphics are always dark and murky (I didn't like that either), but now it has a purpose : You are in a different dimension set apart from Rivellon, and it's controlled by many strange beings, demons for example.

Because this environment, the graphics reflect where the adventure takes place.

By the way, we have only a *part* of *all* in-game graphics, so we don't know what's coming to us.

But anyway, personally, I'd like some lighter graphics as well. *sigh*

Alrik.

I too prefer picturesque earth-toned backgrounds, but as long as the gameplay is good, I am satisfied.

Actually, Divinity was quite dark on my system. There is a darkness and gamma setting in the video options, however, that fixed that.
For beyond Divinity, the first act is suppose to be dark, what with being in a dungeon and all. There are also other areas outdoors, giant mushrooms, etc that should be lighter.

Maybe a shinny, happy meadow with a rainbow, where elves and pixies come out and sing to you (think smurfs who have been watching too much Barney the dinosaur), trying to get you to join in. Even after you start killing them, they apologize for getting in the way of your sword, and keep singing.

Yeah, I prefer the green environements from Divinty, but it seems you'll return to some of those green area's on certain occasions, I do remember seeing a screenshot with a some grass and tree's in it.

Good topic. Indeed, the game is a bit darkish, but hey! We've only seen the screens from the first act and the ones from the mushroom imp village, which had grass.
Also DD had a quite few dark dungeons. That's the point of dungeons, I might add: breeding ground for rats and other pests.
So rejoice, hamsters and rangers everywhere

Planescape: Torment was perhaps the "darkest" game with regards to its visuals that I have ever played. However, it really set the mood, and it was one of my most favorites. Now I am playing Gothic II, and it is dark too (i.e. Gothic) but it works very well.

I am sure that will be okay Don't worry
