I was already going to buy it; however, I enjoyed the demo and it has not changed my mind. I have a soap box labeled "Divine Divinity" around here somewhere; I suppose I can paint "Beyond" over "Divine" and continue preaching about these games. In a world of endless The Sims expansion packs, thanks for making great games Larian.

I haven't played the demo "(heh heh 56k connection)"
But I look forward to buying the game. I stopped playing Divine Divinity becuase of boardem and lack of time(I mean one person boaring)I turned off the music too.
I look forward to playing Beyond Divinity
This looks like a very detailed game with actual Character Interaction between the main Characters...We can only hope there is a Hate Love relationship...

If said why I turned off the music it would be a never ending off topic reply that would be...never ending Here I am with the never ending off topic reply: I didn't agree with the music directing(in games it's not just the composer but the directing of the music) you could say the music was cliche' or not quite there...(not even a que for battle music) "oi these are just my opinions they don't mean much" and sometimes ok, most of the time, the Composer has little control of what they compose for the audio in a game, you are trying to make the producer and director happy after all your on contract. nothing is ever Diatonic anymore(sheesh)

At the moment I am rereading the Wheel of Time Saga book after book after book. on Book seven now. just bringing that up because of your name (13?)
there two dragons Bruce Lee and Rand whAHAHAHA!

I loved the music in , but this is clearly subjective. I will turn off in-game music and listen to Winamp if the resources are there, particularly if I'm playing Civ 3 or GalCiv.

"After playing the demo are you buying"

no probably not. The combat system and voice actors are horrible it looks like a divinity game but dosnt play like it at all. The graphics are nice and so is the music, but i dont spend money on a game just because of how good the graphics is or how good the music is. Gameplay, and well written dialogue with good actors are what bring me into a game. Thats why i liked divine divinity. Just my opinion though

i hate to be a troll, but im kinda disapointed with it. maybe i had my expectations set to high...or maybe i thought it would be more like . i know i shouldnt make up my mind just yet, having not completed the demo. i only played it for a few minutes, but it just didnt impress me like did. i will keep playing and hopefully change my mind.

Unfortunately, there are not a lot of quests you can work into escaping from a prison. In Divinity you started in a town, so there was more variety and more interaction right off the start. I doubt the Larians would drop that in Beyond Divinity, but the initial location kind of limits the quests you could reasonable expect to encounter.

Other than the lack of a 'select all' hotkey (to reduce mouse travel), I didn't have any problems with the combat system.

if your reading book eight then you will Learn who the watcher is and who death is...I won't say anymore I have read this series like six time(I know crazy)
I worship the ground Robert Jorden walks on. I have the World of Wheel of Time and I started reading New Spring to start the series over again^_*
Book 11 should be 2005 along with the other Book about Rand's 'er other Dad(Tam) and his adventures becoming a blade master and what not...I figured it was 13 for the forsaken but wasn't to sure. I really think Isheamel is Cool I mean the guy touched the world of time for 3000 years and the world danced until Calandor got in the way that is...I compose music I can't help but not like everything I hear in games. all the music I hear. I acutally want to end up writing music for I dont' like and adding it there LOL! that's a lot of work production stuff.

me I didn't like Divine Divinity I didn't delete my saves but I don't know I will be putting back on one of my hd's. Just being alone was pretty boaring, it's cool when you have Characters that talk to you and have there own personalities and are part of your party. I guess I must just like party based games LOL! Knights of the Old Republic was one amazing party based game that was well amazing. Still I might go back to my Saved game sometime.
I know I will like Beyond Divinity because it's not just you, there is someone else there that will add there comments and personality to a situation this makes a much deeper story and game, even the combat looks better. All this I haven' I can't play the demo so I will wait till April. The Demo pictures look better then the pictures I have just seen of the game, crisper, detailed more.
almost off topic but not quite...

>"After playing the demo are you buying"

Not at this point in time, because I can't get combat to work properly. The targetting when holding down CTRL does NOT work like it did in Divine Divinity (I went back and checked that in the original game). I'm finding the combat too frustrating - it's making me angry when I play instead of me enjoying myself. I just keep running past the enemy, while they swing at me and eventually kill me...

So, I'm afraid that unless the combat targetting is fixed, I won't be buying Beyond Divinity. Like I said in another thread, I'm extremely disappointed.

(The rest of the game is just great, but the combat is such a fundamental part of the game that I just won't buy it unless its fixed.)

It's crazy that some people are having so much trouble with the combat. For me it's a bit like riding a bike, once I got the hang of it, it's easy.
They should make it much easier to select fast moving targets tho, hopefully before release or in a patch very shortly after.

Not sure yet. I'm a bit dissapointed with it. Not hugely, but still somewhat. To me it's like a somewhat inferior version of DD, which I thought was as good as any other SP Action/RPG ever. I'm also not crazy about the whole 2 character thingie, but that's possibly just me.

Well, I guess I'll buy it because I really felt bad when the demo ended...I really wanted to play on. Some things that troubled me where the skill system...you need to find books or teachers to unlock certain paths before that skill can be learned. I went crazy when my wizard leveled up but couldn't learn fire misile because I hadn't spoken to the ghost before so I wasted a skillpoint on the warrior path for my wizzy.

The combat system seem ok to me I just would like to find an easy way to switch between characters. Now I always pause the game, make my moves and then see what happens.

Another thing that bothers me is that when I play the game on my Dual PIII with a Geforce 2 Ultra in 1024-768 the game is really not smooth enough but I already had that with Divine Divinity so noprob just a pitty.

Another thing is that the inventory seems to become incredibly messy after a while. When I click the filter buttons to see what lies where then I forget to turn them of again. This makes me hiding a lot of stuff and forgetting about it.

I also noticed the concept of "Unique Items" (amulet in locked chest). What is this about?

And then one last remark about one of the quests : "the thirsty prisoner" Why does he only accept a certain bottle of water out of the kitchen? There are more bottles of water lying arround so I don't understand why he shouldn't accept those bottles or even a mug of water.

that's it...

To be honest, we're pretty surprised about the reactions on the combat system - we actually thought most of you were going to prefer it over Divine Divinity's combat system. But you do need the pause key. If you play it without, life sometimes becomes very complex in BD. As for the combats themselves, remember, you only get the beginning of a very large game in the demo, and the first levels serve the purpose of familiarizing you with the controls.

We have picked up on your comments, and here's what I promise we'll address:

Targeting - non trivial, but we'll think of something. It's true that select all/ctrl is something that should be in.

Hotkeys - we'll add more (I do want to point out that you can recenter on an active partymember by pressing F1 or F2 twice, and select the leader by pressing it once)

Explaining:A lot of the comments I read here are actually already addressed in the game, but those features are apparently not clear enough. I don't know exactly how we'll explain, given the sheer amount of features, but we'll try to think of something.

Please keep the feedback coming, we are listening.

Thanks

That's what I really like at Larian Studios: the voice of the player matters!

Keep up the good working Lar!
