The only thing that BD has to "envious" of DiabloII its the Cut-scenes!
DiabloII's CUT-SCENES are MOVIE-(HIGH) quality!Its LIKE a big reward for finishing each ACT!Also the cut scenes are pretty big compared to DD's one!
Its amazing,it makes the player want to finish each act JUST TO SEE THE CUT-SCENES!
I just wished BD could have that CUT-SCENES quality!
Now for the rest:Let's NOT forget that DiabloI& II(i think) where made BEFORE DD&BD and that's why it has much less futures that DD&BD,WHICH happens with all games (e.x. C&C:Red Alert 2 with C&C:Generals)!
DD&Beyond Divinity is a choose your class path as you progress,which you think suit best to you!
Now in DiabloII you just choose at start 1 class character,having to use ONLY a few skills(which most are useless)!When you find THE BEST WEAPON/MAGIC its over you just kill easily everything!It gets quite boring just hit&slash all the time,there are NO real quests and YOU #MUST# FOLLOW THE STORY line that is given to you,unlike in BD where you have much much more freedom to do what you want!
At first BD seems a bit confusing and boring because of THE TOO MANY resistances,complex skill creations,armor types(crushing ect...) but you get used to it!
It also gives you the opportunity to CREATE 2 different characters as you progress,meaning most items you find you will either use them on one PC or the other PC.One can be a warrior and the other a Ranger with lots of Survivor skills(lockpicks,traps ect.)
BUT having TOO many characters like in Dungeon Sieges makes the game BORING so 2 are fine!*IF YOU DON"T LIKE HAVING 2 characters around just use only one,the other will just follow you when you enter caves,holes,going to a different level ect. ect.

Out of topic:
1)I noticed that they FIXED that CHEAT where you could have as much amount of an item you wanted in DD with the negative number bug,!You can still put the negative symbol but it WON'T let you click the OK "_/" button!-I'm glad =) !
2)Are scorpions still EXTREMELY POWERFUL???
3)Can you direct control your summoned creatures?
