now i've posted quite a bit of negativity in one of the threads concerning the demo. now i would like to explain a bit to avoid confusion or further confusion if i'm already too late.

i am not bashing the demo. i'm giving my opinions on it & of course a bit of disappointment as i have very big expectations (larians gave me one of the best RPG experiences ever in DD). i was also suggesting a bit on improvements & such so that larians can do something about those & make the final version better in many ways. of course i may be wrong also which is why i called them 'opinions'.

many outside the forums (especially those around me like my brothers) don't really like the look of the game. they pass it off as diablo clone (AGAIN?!) & that the graphics' are ugly. now don't listen to them, marian. u're really good & i won't trade u with anybody else for larian game arts. just that people don't really appreciate marian's art style which is very caricature-like & i like that. it doesn't have to be very accurate in proportions & all that but having a style makes the game unique.

well there are people who called modern art crap. & there are those who fawn over trash & revere those as art.

marian, u rock. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

Yup, my wife is going to be irritated. (going to bed at 3am)
One complaint about the demo. Its a bit hard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> I have to play it fully though and maybe tackle those ghosts last.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />
What kind of magic works best anyway? I've tried air and fire so far. Projectile for more damage. Is there any difference? Certain creatures with certain resists?

Once you have killed one of a certain type of creature, check the trophies section of your log for detailed stats on them. Similar types of creatures will have similar stats, with variation due to level or variety, etc.

like it or not fellas, this demo has HURT them or WILL hurt them <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

Ppl posting on big sites such as IGn etc, say they will not get this game as the demo was terrible in their eyes.

Shame too <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I will get it regardless.

Buliwyf-> That's what I've been saying too. And yes, it is quite sad to hear a thing like this. Look for my topic called "7 reasons why the DD demo was better...".

However, this may turn around once the reviewers get their hands on an early copy, and give it the high score it deserves.

You can't expect that a demo would start in the middle of the story. It's just not possible.

It could be possible, i played the beginning of Act 2 without knowing the beginning of the game.
But i played very badly because i was not used to the new skill system, i did not know how to manage the fights with 2 characters and the game was getting harder at this stage.

With the demo i can discover the beginning of the game and it is much easier.
It is normal that the beginning of a game is easy.
It does not mean that the whole game will be easy too.

A lot of people say that Beyond is not completely like Divine Divinity, of course it is not !
If you want "the same game" play again and again Divine Divinity !

The demo looks too short. Why ? Because it is a great game.
When you are bored by something you will never find it too short !

I love the demo and i am sure that i will love the game.

That'd be nice if I could actually kill one of those bloody ghosts! I'm going to try a few things anyway. Maybe they burn well.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

Magic is a => SLASHING <= no no <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

Ghost have high resistance agianst magic and a -8 resistance to slashing. Theire are other weaknessis but you probably don't have those weapons in the demo.

Womble, look at the trophies list => ghosts don't burn easily. As soon as you have killed one you can take a looooong look there.

Slashing (-8),piercing/crushing (0) ethereal (-100), shadow (-80) bone (-80) are the best to kill them.
Elemental resis are high => +82

So putting one point into "ethereal" against Ghosts is an option ? I think this already fits into the "Tips" section ! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />

Only if you have an Etheral weapon. The melee skills are about improving the weapons existing statatistics.

Seems the motto "knowledge brings succes" seems true in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> Or was it "knowledge brings fear" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

and immortal....as well <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

and thats probably if you already know the game, and/or run right through it!

I already know it's gonna take me as long
or longer to finish, just like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> did!
so to me thats a good investment... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
