Now that's a game I remember I never read that authors books but the story in that game was nothing short of Awesome! and your right the voice acting was ok the music was good for the game too, but then I didn't compose music back then...hmmm...The best voice acting I hear Period is from Japan Seiyuu, FF12 Xenosaga 2 will have the best voice acting for Games and a lot of high production games in Japan.
Japan takes that very very seriously, like Seiyuu are Famous people a lot of them are Singers and Actors as well, they go to school to learn that craft even...This brings it back to voice actors or actors in General, I am seeing and since Wing Commander 3, that they are hiring and have been top notch actors for the voice acting in the US for there games(James Bond game anyone) I think it's a matter of money and production. Either the Audio guy is in charge of EFX, Music, Sound design, and hiring the voice actors and recording(no joke some companies ask all that from a studio) or a company hires a company to do the voice acting. I honestly can say it's not to hard to add your emotion to a given sentence that requires that emotion. But hey I not the standing in front of a microphone with a script^_* this is almost off topic... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif" alt="" />
I haven't even played the Beyond Divinity demo yet. If the voice acting sucks I will still buy the game I will still play it an hour here and there. People look for a mood and hope that the actors are following that mood with there voice if not it kills the mood? Kondor is a good example of a great RPG where the voice acting and audio didn't get in the way of the game no matter what we thought of the audio and voice acting...I bet Beyond Divinity will be a surprise for everone...ohhh got on topic a bit there(sweating)
