Alcohol is also bad for your muscles. Muscles needs fuel. That fuel (= sugar) is provided by your liver. But after you drunk alcohol your liver needs that fuel itself. Becouse alcohol slows your bodyfunctions down the liver itself needs more fuel to keep up. Less to none fuel will go to the muscles. They get weaker. Making your motions even less controlable. That's why you feel stiff and tired after using (to much) alcohol.

Alcohol is also very dangerous when you're driving. It gives you confidence at a time you could do with a little less confidence. As your motions slow down also your reactions slow down. You can't calculate distances to other points right anymore. And it narrows your view. It's like you're looking into a tunnel. You also get more blinded by lights easely. Already after two pints of beer the risk of creating an accident is twice as high as normal.

Alcohol also makes you lose a lot of moist/water. That's why you feel thursty after drinking alcohol. But it's not only the shortage of fluid in your body... also around your brain. That's why you get a headache and/or a "heavy" head. It's very bad on your brain. Trying to get rit of the alcohol your body creates acetaldehyde. But that's very toxic. And that's why you feel sick after drinking alcohol.

But, it is said that "moderate drinking" is good for you. Bartender, a bucket of light beer for me!

That's a wide spread misunderstanding... Started by brewers. It's true that some ingredients of beer, whiskey, and so on... are healthy. But, the alcohol is more bad than those ingredients are good. Besides, you can get those same ingredients in a more healthy way. Simply by eating bread fi.

@faile It's often like that. And it's good, I don't disagree. But what's good about it you can get in another way too. Without having the bad efects of alcohol. You have to think of who useally starts those kind of "commercials". It's good for your heart. Becouse it lowers cholestorol (sp?) but there are many other ways to lower cholestorol and many other ways to prevent getting your cholestorol up to high. Believe me, you don't get slim from drinking red wine (- like one vineyard owner tried to sell to the public - what a joke ), just the opposite!

i feel exactly the same way about milk. the dairy industry paid doctors to advocate milk as a source of calcium. there are plenty of other ways to obtain the calcium you need, and i firmly belive that humans should not drink milk.

no, it's not! In one study, funded by the National Dairy Council, a group of postmenopausal women were given three 8-ounce glasses of skim milk every day for two years, and their bones were compared to those of a control group of women not given the milk. The dairy group consumed 1,400 mg of calcium per day and lost bone at twice the rate of the control group. According to the researchers, "this may have been due to the average 30 percent increase in protein intake during milk supplementation. ... The adverse effect of increases in protein intake on calcium balance has been reported from several laboratories, including our own" (they then cite 10 other studies). Says McDougall, "Needless to say, this finding did not reach the six o'clock news." This is one study that the dairy industry won't be repeating any time soon. stuff on disease and dairy products

Ya,I get bound up with dairy products, but I still injest them! We must keep in mind that we are at the Inn,and we can't always drink milk... It doesn't promote fighting...Unless your bound up...That would put anyone in a foul mood!

Ah But there are a lot more good things to milk. fi: it helps you sober up when you drunk to much alcohol. Those links are to an extreme site. The biggest couse of allergies in children isn't milk. It's simply becouse most children are overprotected these days. Kids used to play outside, play with animals, ... They got stronger, their body got "used" to lot of things. They got a strong immumesystem. That's not happening anymore. Another reason is the increasing polution. Some of the comments on that site are simply to silly to be believeable.

like what? my main reasoning that humans shouldn't drink milk is that humans are not cows. (and the dairy cows suffering, factory farming... i'm a strict veggie working my way towards veganism.) it's all social conditioning that we drink milk anyway. would you drink horse milk? or what about monkey milk? how is that different from drinking cow milk? if people are going to drink milk, it should be people milk. because people milk is for people. cow milk is for cows, not people.
