Have gotten a couple of white spherical orbs, which say to use with charms. Have no idea what to do with them. Have a statue of a cat which says I can use to become a cat (why would I want to do that?). Also what does "polymorph" do - got the book in a cave. Killed a lich and got a "royal chain" but looked in inventory and couldn't find it - what happened to it. Hope these aren't too many questions but inventory stuff is piling up. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

The cat statue...click on it in you inventory...it will turn you into a cat for a period of time. There are others out there like that that will turn you into the depicted animal.
As to the charms, if you get a weapon with a charm quality, you can use those charms to that weapon, hang on, i will find you the spoiler link.
Polymorph is a spell that will turn an enemy into a rabbit or a frog - makes them easier to kill. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
You may want to check your armor - the royal chain is probably there.

Orbs--You can add them to weapons that have charm slots after you get the warrior skill which iirc is called enchant or charm weapon. But if you have equipment which you think you will wear until the end of the game then wait until you have the highest quality "orbs" to use; the process is not reversible.

Cat statuette--I never used it, but the frog statuette will enable you to run faster than you can in human form--will be handy--you will know when. Some people also like the spider statuette. Experiment with the cat--see what happens. The statuette is reusable and the effects are temporary.

Royal chain--Just another type of amulet to wear or sell.

Polymorph--read about the spell in the mage's skill path. You can click on an icon in the skill pane which will show you all skills--even those at a higher level than you have yet attained.

The guys are right about the charms and the statues!
I prefer the frog statue it is cool couse if you are a frogg you can run like hell and refills your stamina in2 secs. try it!
The giant spider statue is also nice but useless!

Another thing: use the book you found(click on it in your inventory)
your skill that is the same like the books title will gain a level up!
Always visit the merchants and by the books...

The spider is not totally useless...you can scare people with it - homes that you want to rob, turn into the spider and you scare them away. No one will catch you that way. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

spider statue....i got killed using one.....tehy killed me! the lord protector...well maybe it wasn't a good idea to try it out on stormfirst castle for the first time....

If I'm correct, orcs won't attack you as a cat. So you can finish poison the well quest easier by simply going right past the orcs. You can come back later to kill them all, but at low level, you probably can't take them all on yet.

if you take enough magic and stamina potions with you, you can do it! or at least i could...i had level 5 metor strike at level 15 or so.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/evilgrin1.gif" alt="" />

While we are about it: has anybody managed to find a use for the ARROWS that one can find in a few places on the map? Bows don't seem to actually need lugging around tons of ammo in DD (fortunately).

I got attacked by a soldier when I was walking like a spider, but I runned away and transformed myself back again and sold that spider immediately, coz I was in the thinking that mayby I could attack some persons like how the real spider does, but that didnt worked <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" /> or maybe I did something wrong <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />

You can spit poison when you are a spider. Perhaps you need to be in Combat mode instead of Passive mode?

see? Kistandalius ran out of his shop <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> - same for the armourer, but I didn't run out, so the soldiers couldn't attack me - and I could walk freely in the Elite Orc area as a spider.

Click on the guy you want to attack, as if you had a weapon...
