I love the music so much I downloaded some files, however I'm not an expert when it comes to installing music files. When clicking on the file I have to type in the output directory. I don't understand, could someone help me please.

If they have the ending .MPG , then they are true music files.

If they have the ending .ZIP , then they are still compressed in a Forumat that is widely known as .ZIP = "zipped". I don't know where this name comes from. The original program inventing this format was "PKZIP".

If the ending is still .ZIP , then it needs to be de-compressed, and that means it must be put out of that ".ZIP - Package" into an "output directory".

Now I'm really confused?? I downloaded with Winrar and used the wizard to open the file, then a file appeared with an icon called DD music extractor.exe. When I opened that up came a box with two entries, the top one was the C/program files Divine Divinity, and the box underneath is the output directory which is blank and I need to fill this in before I can extract. Does any of this make sense?

Help need for someone who doesn't have a clue.

The Divine Divinity Music Extractor by BrainBox takes the large music file (sound.cmp, IIRC) from Divinity and splits it up into separate ogg files. You just need to tell it where to put these files; "c:\temp", "C:\My Documents\My Music" or wherever you want.

If you need something to play ogg files (a similar format to mp3, except open source), check out Zinf

You can also download some music in mp3 format;

Ah ! Good you told us that !

What you have downloaded are not the music files themelves, but a program that extracts them out of the game itself !

And since you need to store the extracede files somewhere (you cannot put them into the void ) you mist give the program the patch to store the music files.

C: ist your hard disk inside your computer. If this confuses you, I suggest that you read the windows help files about file management.

You can specify a path like for example C:\divinity
I don't know if the program expects this path to exists, if so, then you must make a new directory called "divinity" on your first hard disk (called C:) , thus creating the path "C:\divinity". You can do this by using the so-called "windows explorer", the program dedicated to file management. If you don't know how to use it, I suggest that you read the help file(s) of the so-called "explorer" first.

Somewhere here at Larian there should be a link where you can download the music files themselves, but that's a *big* package.

A few last word about that "music extractor" you have seemingly downloaded : The music files it extracts out of thegame are in a Format called .OGG . OGG is the music formatfor "Ogg Vorbis" files. You'll need a player that can play these .OGG files. You can try Winamp, for example, if the so-called "windows media player" cannot play them.
