And Pixies! Oh man! Which record could I remember first?
Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, The Cult, The Sound... it would be endless...
Yay, Luc <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />
(Egin jumps around in joy and happiness <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />)
But Egin one correction the songs from the test were not disco. There are some pop songs in that test alright but also there are some New wave songs.
As you say Lu. Actually, I am not sure if I know the difference. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
......When I told them they went back on the streets, found the skinheads, hit them hard and took my shoes back. Knights with teared up clothes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> They took me home and waited till I get in.
That's an excellent story! Good to hear punks could not only withstand skeanheads but actually beat them.
In late seventies, eighties there were large underground movements of punks and hippies in USSR. That wasn't allowed by authorities.(You know, that were the times where Bulgakov and Strugazkis were still forbidden) Both movements were a challenge to regime, to goverment. We even had a term for many songs grown those days - politrock (politic rock).
I know that guys singing political antiregime songs had a lot of problems. They were being tracked down by police and by more scary organization - KGB.
Later - early/mid eighties another movement started to expand on the streets of USSR - gopniki. Originally came out of labour class, usually physically strong, looked like skeanheads but their beleifs were different. They were very loyal to regime, thought that many problems caused by punks and hippies. And gopniks behaved similar to skeanheads - catching punks or hippies, beating them and cutting hair. (I was punk those days, got many many bruises and grazes from meeting with gopniks, but we revenged also). I know that unoficially gopniks were often greeted and even funded to do things from KGB and police. Later, after USSR collapsed and natist ideology came to the former republics, many many gopnics gathered under the roof of skeanhead organisations.
Faile, did you mean this in your previous post?
(Please it is just a memory. Lets don´t start a fight in here about skinheads and fascists ok?)
