No matter what I will always love punks. They were among the best things that happend in that decade Egin reminded me so many great things!

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for rotting vegetables was a great record I have danced so much in the floors with those songs.

And Pixies! Oh man! Which record could I remember first?
Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sisters of Mercy, The Cure, The Cult, The Sound... it would be endless...

But Egin one correction the songs from the test were not disco. There are some pop songs in that test alright but also there are some New wave songs.

One memory I want to share :

I was a gothic freak from my 16 up till now (I refuse to grow old ) and I had bought a pair of Doc Martins boots (I don´t know if you know them). I was walking on the street one night returning from a club and skinheads attacked me. They used to do it a lot back then. They took my shoes and left. I was luck they did not hurt me. (The shoes were expensive and they were stealling them from people to sell them). And then a group of Punks showed up.
Their hair were shaved like Mohicans (sp?). They saw me walking with my shocks in the street and they asked me what happened. When I told them they went back on the streets, found the skinheads, hit them hard and took my shoes back. Knights with teared up clothes They took me home and waited till I get in.
Pretty nice guys. The best I have ever known

Cheers to them

(Please it is just a memory. Lets don´t start a fight in here about skinheads and fascists ok?)

As you say Lu. Actually, I am not sure if I know the difference.

That's an excellent story! Good to hear punks could not only withstand skeanheads but actually beat them.

In late seventies, eighties there were large underground movements of punks and hippies in USSR. That wasn't allowed by authorities.(You know, that were the times where Bulgakov and Strugazkis were still forbidden) Both movements were a challenge to regime, to goverment. We even had a term for many songs grown those days - politrock (politic rock).
I know that guys singing political antiregime songs had a lot of problems. They were being tracked down by police and by more scary organization - KGB.

Later - early/mid eighties another movement started to expand on the streets of USSR - gopniki. Originally came out of labour class, usually physically strong, looked like skeanheads but their beleifs were different. They were very loyal to regime, thought that many problems caused by punks and hippies. And gopniks behaved similar to skeanheads - catching punks or hippies, beating them and cutting hair. (I was punk those days, got many many bruises and grazes from meeting with gopniks, but we revenged also). I know that unoficially gopniks were often greeted and even funded to do things from KGB and police. Later, after USSR collapsed and natist ideology came to the former republics, many many gopnics gathered under the roof of skeanhead organisations.
Faile, did you mean this in your previous post?

I work with a german skinhead. He just shaves his head so he doesn't look ridiculous when going bald. People have lots of reasons for doing it I guess.

Ok, here is my understanding. Skinhead is a neonazi, I connect them to skinheads in The Wall. Those, who are following neo nazi ideology, rules.
Maybe it is wrong as the word itself means nothing more than shaved head, but as I told Faile, it is stereotype I have. I don't have a reason to hate skinheads (I mean neo nazis), but I have less reason to respect those who put themself superior to any other species on this planet. This is my humble opinion.

neo nazis i refer to as nazi skinheads. any SHARP skinhead worth his salt would kick any nazi's [nocando].

skinhead does not mean just a shaved head, it is the culture that goes along with a shaved head, the music, the clothes...

i just don't like to see skinhead used in a derogatory way because NOT ALL SKINS ARE RACIST NAZI PUNKS. thats all i'm trying to say.

i only got a measly 28% for the score though i know most of the songs (but not the lyrics).

ah... glorious 80's with petshop boys, wham, cure, stock-aitken-waterman pop, bananarama, level 42, rio speedwagon, suzanne vega, tracy chapman (she's closer to 90's, right?), dire straits, redhotchilipeppers, U2, etc ....

my bro digs king crimson, king diamond, metallica, .... .

I knew it it would turn up like this...

Well there is huge difference between a person who shaves his head to avoid to show people that he has no hair and the Neo-Nazis skinheads. I have lived that movement to my bones and I know. The saved head for skinheads, goes along with the svastiga tatoos, and that huge ideology of admiring Hitler and race superiority. There were skinheads that they were stoping kids in the street and with razors cut the svastiga on their forehead. Not to mention that they where stealling shoes and hit punks and goths with no reason. That is the dangerous neo nazi movement. Please do not connect it with the people that shave their head for other reasons. As I see it there is a confusion these days about ideologies everywhere. So I am not talking about the people faile mentioned because I am not familiar with their beliefs and their actions. But back then skinheads were people with specific beliefs and they were doing violent things.

And there was no conection to them with the punks. Different ideology and background.

Lews experienced of course the typical prejudice. It is like goths that people think that they like to drink blood and sleep in coffins.

@ Egin
I have met punks that were so nice to me. People where scared of them back on 80´s. They thought that they were bumps. But they where the more sensitive guys I have ever met. One night I was in a club dancing and I was so drunk that I could not remember my name. And we were dancing Madness "One step Beyond". When that song was on the air people were dancing like crazy. Kicking and hiting. As I was so drunk I found my self on the floor ( how did I get there?) and infront of me there was a punk with that red thing on his head and a lot of body piercing and I remember I thought "Oh Gods he is going to kick me and I am going to fly in space". He was huge. But he bent his knees, he gave me his hand and helped me to stand up. He asked me if I was ok and yelded to the others to be careful. I will never forget him.

Erhh sorry guys I short of carried away with my memories. I know I talk too much and I apologize. But this was the best times of my life. I think I get old...

@ Jan

Missed ya too bearded one

@ HandEFood

I am amazed. I thought you did not like goths and punks

To everyone : Lets give the benefit of the doubt to people. We never know what is on their minds. Nowdays there are so many mixtures and confusion about ideology

this is offtopic as well & u can put me in a bin for 4 turns.

talk of skinheads or what some kids think of them, it can be really funny & at the same time very very sad. i'm talking about the so-called skinheads in malaysia. or what i would call POSERS.

they would dress up like one, talk trash, act punk (no, they can't tell the difference) & proud of all that. heck, they even have swastika tattoos & all that neo-nazi crap. the funny & sad as well as stupid thing is that they're asians (like me) & they have no idea that neo-nazi would love to wipe them off the planet. stupid kids.

music is worn like fashion but it shouldn't be.

by the way, luc, u're busy with work? i notice u're not around as often as before.

Faile, I haven't disagreed with you. I have short haircut, and I wear military boots, but I am not a skinhead. Ha, I will always stay punk in my heart

nazism can be a phylosofical theory Nitse
it can be religion, ideology and dictate - Hitler
It can be a cult as it is used by - neo natsis, who can be a part of some skinhead organisations (edited after reading Faile's article)

I like, what Janggut is saying. There are fetishists among punks, skinheads, goths, - again stupid kids who want to look cool knowing nothing about the background and culture.

Faile, thanks for sending a link. Good information putting skinheads into categories and explaining their background and origins. Again, stereotype tends to the aggressive skins - boneheads (racists and foothball hooligans).

Luc.
Go into C:
and C:/program Files

look for suspicious directories, look for dialer.exe, gator - delete the directory containing these files.
Go into msconfig and disable these dialers.
Do the same in Start-Programs-Startup.
