Amazingly most of the German groups are not so popular in... Germany Funny you mention it Al but yesterday me and my man were talking about German groups and we made a list. It was huge trust me. I wonder if any of these are half popular as they are here in Greece

I think you're thinking of one specific image of a goth. PVC suit, too much makeup and vampire teeth? Sure there are goths like that, but gothic is really anything from that setting. It doesn't even have to be black. One of my friends has a beautiful grass-green velvel cloak. She looks very beautiful and serene in it.

Black doesn't look unapproachable or violent. I'm always smiling and happy when I walk around. I only wear jeans, a t-shirt and a jacket, nothing extravagent. I say hi to every person I pass (unless it's really crowded – that's just too tricky ).

It's not mental difficulties they have. It's just a different idea. I can't understand people that need to drive fast and rev their engines like they can't hear them, which they normally can't over their car's sound system. I can't understand yuppies that think you're a low life for not dining in fancy restaraunts daily. I don't hate any of them, I just tend not to associate with them. Let them live their bizare lives (bizare to me). It doesn't bug me.

You're right that some do go out of their way to ward others off. I don't think much of them either. But a while ago, I was dressed in a business suit, walking through the city, there and was a woman coming the other way, dressed in black, shaved head, carrying a staff. She gave me a big friendly smile as we passed. If I wasn't in a rush that day, I would have stopped to chat with her.

I know you'll have whatever ideas you'll have, and I don't intend to make you like goths or any other group of people. I just don't see a need to hate them. Let me know if I've misunderstood you.
LOL! a grass green cloak now that is cool. i bet you dont say hello to everyone in the street because if you dress like a goth many would probably beat you up. and that woman dressed in black carrying a staff with a shaved head, thats just not natural. its like she dosent want any friends. she probably would have drunk your blood given half the chance or something worse. seriously people who dress like goths are (unfortunatley) mis-led. they are becoming outcast's in society and are suffering for it.

Dude, you need to chill. Different people like different things and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I think you're the one becoming an outcast on this forum.

I shave my head, have tattoos, and wear mostly black. Does that make me seem "evil" to you. If it does, then great. Your sorry, close-minded attitude is not something that I want around.

Sorry everyone for the rant.

Two things (because if I say more I will have to delete my post then)...

- I prefer to be an outcast than hang around with people like you Thor.

- Beat us up? And would not afraid that we will drink their blood? Tsk tsk be ware... We may even like it...

@ Lord

Why would anyone want to be friends with someone who threatens and bashes people? That sounds very unfriendly. And if goths were picking people off the street to suck their blood unwillingly, I'm sure you'd hear about it on the news.

I just wanted to let you know, before I read this thread I didnt really like goths and their clothing style (but I do like their music, Nightwish anyway) But when I read all your posts saying good things about goths I just have to say I didnt know they were mostly nice people.

I dont think I'll ever dress up like a goth (I like my classic style) But I certainly will look at them differently now. Thank you all for enlightening me!

Lews experienced of course the typical prejudice. It is like goths that people think that they like to drink blood and sleep in coffins.

I like to sleep in coffins too!

Back in the 80's, my favorite coat was a Marine Sergents jacket. It was given to me by a boyfriend whoes brother was killed in Vietnam. I had a funky floppy hat that I wore with it and multiple long dangling earrings. All black clothing underneath, including my jeans and boots. I was not a punk rocker. But I guess you could say I looked like one. I was into Bowie and The Phycedelic Furs, not to forget Gary Newman! I was not violent, but looked like I could have been. I guess I looked pretty tough.
People would all the time yell at me for wearing that jacket. Saying that it was a disgrace to the uniform. Almost to the point of violence. I did not belive it was a disgrace. The jacket was given to me with love. It was a prized possesion of someone who loved me. I wore it proudly, yet was persecuted for it. I wore it because I could. I still have that jacket BTW. I do not, and never will persecute someone for how they look. I still dress in black and sometimes put on some outragouse makeup. No harm no foul. It is what is on the inside that counts. Those that judge a book by it's cover are fools of the worst sort. The reading is done on the inner pages, friend...

@ faile

That would be great! Thank you so much!!

I want something femine but yet powerful. I am sure that I don't want a red rose or something like that... ; Don't like them.

And in all the shops I have been there are some good designs but I would like to have something just for me. I wouldn't like my tatoo to be to another body. I supose this is a bit selfish but I prefer to have something mine.

If you have something in mind pm me. I would love to see your ideas. I am sure that I will like them.

Can you post this list please ? I'm interested.

In only know three or four hits in the USA made by people speaking German :

- "Wind of Change" - Scorpions

- "Big in Japan" - Name forgotten, something with "Ville"

- "99 Luftballons" - the English version of that - by Nena

- "Rock me Amadeus" - by Falco, anm Austrian.

I've heard that so-called "Kraut-Rock" Bands are (quite) popular outside Germany, but I don't know anything anout them.

And Can isn't played on Radio (German radio stations almost only play foreign - mostly English - songs, with a few italian and french songs.)

No guys the "Big In Japan" song is from "Alphaville". Great hit back on eighties and hit till now. I have the first 7'' vinil record they made on 80s. Collector

Falco was also very famous for the song Der Komissar back on 80's.

Nena made a translation to 99 red baloons back then. She was very popular.

@Al
I don't have a link. We were talking with my boyfriend but I can write the list here. I hope that it is ok with everybody else. If not pm me and I will edit my post. So here it goes.

*Great German Groups that we listen to in Greece (And they are hits trust me)*

Group and the most popular song :

- L'aime Immortelle - Life will never be the same
- Einstuerzende NoiBauten - Feurio (Two live perf. here)
- Wolfsheim - ALL THEIR RECORDS (Most popular "Once in a lifetime" We will see them live on May 9th on Elfendanz (SP?) Festival)
- Diary of Dreams - ALL THEIR RECORDS (Most popular "June" Two live performances here)
- And One - ALL THEIR RECORDS (one live per. here)
- Lights Of Euphoria - True Life
- De/Vision - ALL THEIR RECORDS
- Wumpscut - Thorns, Angel
- Rammstein - ALL THEIR RECORDS (At the moment very popular Du Hast and Strip)
- Camouflage - The Great commadment (An 80's super hit. We listen to it till now) (One live per. here)
- Kraftwerk - The Model (An 80's super hit. We listen to it till now)
- Das Ich - ALL THEIR RECORDS
- City - Can not write the name of the song. It was a great hit back in 79 and all 80's
- Nina Hagen - She does not need any intro. She is the best lady. New York is my fav. (Btw if someone from Germany can find me the cd that has that song I pay a lot of money seriously). (One live perf. on the First Rock in Athens. I was fourteen. She was a goddess)
- Funker Vogt - ALL THEIR RECORDS
- The Eternal Aflict - Von Der Amut
- The Merry Thoughts (That is nice gothic ) Pale Empress
- Toy - Welcome to space radio

This is all I can think up till now. It is a small amount of German Groups that I personally love. And they are very popular here. There are many more that I am not familiar yet or I forget them. I have told in the lyrics thread that Germans have music diamonds lying beside them
EDIT : I forgot STOA. Greek Goths just kill for their cds. Very rare. This is music that you will really like Al. Check Stoa - Porta VIII album and STOA - Urthona album. You will like them. Trust me on this.

Well, I'm done with this moron. Bugger off back to nazi Germany.
I will no longer respond to anything he posts in the name of maintaining peace.

Actually the diabloii.net forums are great for this, they have a button for ignoring certain posters you don't want to read. Pity they don't have a button to electro-shock them too! Or something worse. I don't care.

It is useless to tell this to a kid. His behaviour will change... over time.
Now I see nothing, but a childish maximalism, we can't blame him for this, but we can always teach some good manners.
