Well, I'm still a christian, but in the last years my own religious / spiritual point of view changed very much.

By the way, what always strikes me about ireland is two things :

- A LOT of nature. (Except more industrially developed areas of course). Hence the Green Shamrock. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

- The feeling of a deep, thick, underlying spirituality.

That's my own point of view.

When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it.

spirituality, mystical, magical, tons of folklore, myths, and legends...

isn't "spuds finnigan" from there as well? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
...and that "lucky charm" fella too! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

Is a Pagan one without religion? I thought it was a religion in it's own right?

There have been numerous attempts to make it a recognised religion in Australia, but it keeps failing because thy lack the equivilent of a church. Autralian law will only recognise a religion if it is structured like the more common religions (Christianity, Catholosism, etc.) with a heirachy and place of worship. In addition to that, a number of Paganistic practices are also against the law here. Ritual blades are "concealed weapons" and practicing spellcraft is illegal.

Well, i totally disagree with that defineition of a pagan! A pagan is a very broad term for a lot of diffrent beliefs...just as there are diffrent branches of christains (eg - catholic, protastant etc)
In a nut shell - a pagan is anyone of the religion before christains...the druids / celts were pagan, as well as the greek/roman mythology.
The Christains took a lot of the olde holidays, and turned them into church holidays...
a wonderful example...
a better definition

@ Al yeap. I am going to live in Ireland one day.

@ Carrie

I agree. I just put the definition from a dictionary just to make things started <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> In other words I prefer to believe in Zeus and the 12 Greek Gods than the one selfish God church forced people to believe.

Ohhh I love when conversation in here turns like this <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

You can have my absence of faith
you can have my everything...
