@ Gal sorry for the late reply but the olives and the feta cheese are just myths. There are plenty traditional Greek foods that I am sure that you would like. Like stuffed tomatoes and "pastitsada" this is pasta with some meat, and many other foods. Most people from other countries know olives and feta but in fact those two are something like orderves (Barta please correct that word I am sure I have spelled it wrong sorry)!

@Barta Thanks for the explaination. The expression pendre la cémaillère makes much more sense like that. I think that reading or listening to a foreign language is easier than speaking or writing it. My dictionnary is most always needed too when I answer posts. I don't get tired of searching for words I don't know (yet), but what sometimes tires me a bit is when I have a precise, contextual french word or expression to express but that nothing such exists for it in english (like "avoir hâte"). @LaFille Thanks for the help. I meant the dishes we eat before the main plate in dinner/lunch. Does this make any sense to you at all? Btw we eat snails too. I have heard that they eat them in France too. Snails is the traditional plate of the island I come from. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

everyone in belgium knows what feta is by now, many stores sell it in botlles with oil, oregon, pepper. we put them in salads or eat it as "aperetif".
It's one of these days...

I like Feta with olive oil, tomatos, onions, garlic, green pepper, olives, and depreziner sausages. Do the olive Oil in an overproof form, give the Feta in it, and do the rest over the Feta. Then put it in the oven and bake it by 220°C 30 min.
Eat it with a white bread (Baguette, Ciabatta)

You can put any herb on it, it will still taste very bad to me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> And yes, hors d'oeuvres are also what the French call "amuse-bouche" (I hope I spelled it correctly?) I think it's served mostly at coctailparties and receptions at weddings. I'm going to a very fancy wedding in august, and I hope they don't serve that one with the backed ham and the goatcheese in it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> The snails are called "escargots" and allthought I never tried that before, I think it's not bad at all. It used to be a delicaty here in Belgiuim, but now these days you can buy them everywhere.
@ Glancelot I'm surprised for a German how well you can speak French, I don't know much Germans that can speak another language, besides English then.
