I haven't switched anything from how the game starts,I ran the config before playing and haven't changed a thing

Open "Configure Divine Divinity" in your program menu and reconfigure as per instructions.

no prolems at all with the install

Uninstalling and reinstalling helps with many programs even if the installation was troublefree.

Try one fix at a time. Go to the next one if the 1st doesn't work.
