ok
first thing first

I have Windows ME
800Mhz Athalon
and a new GeForce4 Mmx440 64 Mb video card (something like that)
(forgot to add this) Version 1.33 of the game,it did the same with version 1.34 on a previous install

I just rescued Zandalor and we hve just teleported to the in the get the 2nd marked one, then it shows a cut scene of the marked one being led into a trap and after gettingh killed the dragon knight goes to kill the boy but for some reason it gets hung up while doing that and the dragon just stays there with the boy standing still while attempting to kill the kid
I can't save or do anything but quit at that point as last I tried it was like that for at least 10 minutes and it was still stuck like that

has anyone experienced a similar problem? if so how do I fix this? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Welcome, Wolvenbane <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

1. Did you clear out the Dynamics folder? Can help.
2. Did you switch to Software mode in your config settings? Can help.
3. Did you have any errors on installing the game or patch? Clean install can help.
4. Are you playing with a No-CD hack? I don't recall this specific scene requires the CD in your drive... others do.
5. Which DirectX version are you playing?
6. How much space is on your drive/partition?
7. When did you defragment the last time? Solved some probs I had.
8. Not sure about this one => how large is your swap file and does Windows manage it or did you assign it yourself?

Edit:
FYI, I played this game under Win98SE on an Athlon 850/800 (PC can't decide) - Geforce 2 and Geforce 4, nearly 400 MB RAM, swap file managed by Win, with DirectX 8 and 9.

5. Which DirectX version are you playing?
I belive it's 9.0b the lastest version I think

6. How much space is on your drive/partition? at least 20Gb

7. When did you defragment the last time? Solved some probs I had.
I've been trying to do that but for some reason defrag isn't working

8. Not sure about this one => how large is your swap file and does Windows
manage it or did you assign it yourself?

I haven't switched anything from how the game starts,I ran the config before playing and haven't changed a thing

Open "Configure Divine Divinity" in your program menu and reconfigure as per instructions.

no prolems at all with the install

Uninstalling and reinstalling helps with many programs even if the installation was troublefree.

Try one fix at a time. Go to the next one if the 1st doesn't work.

try the software rendering stuff it works sometimes...and I believe there was another post about this bug in another forum and I don't remember quite well but I think the solution to the problem had something to do with the patch...I'm not sure though

If you boot in safe mode, can you run scandisk or defrag? How about running scandisk from DOS, or a boot floppy? If you hold the F5 key down while windows is starting it will go into safe mode, while F8 should bring up a boot menu.

I'll try the rendering stuff

I didn't want to mess with it as I really have no idea what I'm doing with it

if I remember correctly even after just having reforrmated this beast I still couldn't run defrag

sounds like it's time to reformat again:(

as to the save games they were erased when I uninstalled last night

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> You should have been asked if you wanted to keep the save games.

When you re-formatted the hard drive, did you also re-partition it? I have seen a computer come from the manufacturer with the wrong drive image used, so the cluster size was not what it should have been, which prevented scandisk from working.
Search Microsoft's knowledge base; there are a few things that can prevent scandisk/defrag from working properly.

no I didn't repartition it,I used the restore CD's that Compaq sent with the comp

yeah probably it did ask if I wanted to leave the save games, but I just blew through and didn't exactly pay attention

it's sorta wierd,in the past they have run but lately I haven't been able too run them

Well if it was a problem with the partition, they never would have worked. Maybe try searching Google with the specific error message you get when trying to run scandisk or defrag.

I would recomend Norton Utilities. It's defragmentator and scaning devises are far superior to Microsoft's sh... stuff.
They work faster, better, are easier to operate. Compared to what Windows offers they're pure user friendly.

...just my 2 cents...

from what I remember I don't really get any specific error msg it just says it tried to run it 10 times (scandisk) and with defrag it says to run scandisk first

If scandisk keeps re-starting, it means that something has changed on the hard drive. Shut down anything running in the background; anti-virus programs, wallpaper changers, email/IM programs, etc.
You should be able to close everything but explorer and systray in the task manager (ctrl-alt-del).

And try updating anti virus software and running a scan. Can you run defrag in safemode as asked earlier?

I'm going to try the whole thing again when I reformat, been having to much trouble lately with spyware and other garbage that's been making it's way onto my HD, hopefully then I can defrag and stuff before installing

but that's not going to be till at least after finals next week

I got past that point with after I reformatted my system and it worked after I reinstalled but I ran into a new problem.

after collecting all the parts for the dragon armor I went back to the Dwarven king as I was supposed to but when I get there the two guards at the entrance of the throne room are invisible till you start to go in and then once inside the guards there and the king are totally invisible and there is no way to talk to them

this also occurs in the cut scene after the divine one ceremony,I got sent to this secret area where two orcs are arguing, you can see them when it's their turn to talk but other than that everyone is invisible and in shadow, once out of the shadow everyone but you is still invisible

thanks
