Boomerang: works AFAIK for 1-handers: dagger spear, axes - not sure if on potions. Activate skill in your abilities icon and then right-click on enemy.

Let's just say that Boomerang does x% (depends on skill level) of your damage (displayed in the stats menu) but has longer range.
And you can't use it on potions.
